Yarmouth, Maine, regarding the ancestry of my great grandfather, Joseph
G. Mansfield, I received a response from Katherine P. Tinker. She cited no
sources. In that letter she wrote:
..."Ruth Sawyer was the daughter of Solomon and Lydia (Horn) Sawyer
who had lived at Falmouth, Gorham, and Cape Elizabeth before going to
Chebeague to settle. "

The marriage between the Hamilton brothers and the Sawyer sisters is
supplied by Janice Whitaker, who has researched this family. Her
reference is:

Yarmouth, Maine, regarding the ancestry of my great grandfather, Joseph
