Notes

The "Dictionary of Royal lineage" lists two wives for THOMAS.

Marguerite was the first. The second was Cicilia of Baux. As THOMAS'

daughter, BEATRICE, is listed as the first-born child and there is no

"without progeny" notation for Marguerite, I am assuming that she was

BEATRICE's mother. She was given as the daughter of Hugh of Coligni and

the notation "(Capet)" appears after her name.

The following is from an Internet post to the soc.genealogy.medieval

newsgroup by Alan B. Wilson on 10 Nov 1995 :

Marguerite Anne of Burgundy, wife of Amadeus IV of Savoy, is said by

Turton on page 61 to be the daughter of Hugh of Coligny and Beatrice of

Viennois. Turton continues the parentage of Hugh of Coligny as Humbert

II, sire of Coligny & Ida of Vienne; Guerric I, sire of Coligny; Humbert I,

sire of Coligny, and Manassis, sire of Coligny.

However, I have been fairly warned not to rely on Turton as a sole

reference. Although the ancestry of Hugh of Coligny is confirmed by

Winkhaus, Europaische Stammtafeln as well as Winkhaus show that

Beatrice of Viennois had three husbands: (1) Alberic Taillefer of

Toulouse, (2) Hugh III of Burgundy, and (3) Hugh de Coligny-de-Neuf. Hugh

III died 25 Oct 1192; Anne married Hugh de Coligny in 1193. Marguerite

Anne of Burgundy was born circa 1192 and is treated as daughter of Hugh

III by Winkhaus and in Europaische Stammtafeln.

Notes

The fact that Richard married Belle MacMillan, who was from New Brunswick, and that they were Evelyn's parents is attested to by Eleanor Murray, Richard's niece. Eleanor adds that quite e few years after Belle's death, Richard married a second time - to Juretta Jordan.

From the "Guardian" newspaper of Prince Edward Island of 2 Apr 1902 under the "MARRIED" column:

. "At Portland, Maine on March 1st, 1902, by Rev. Charles O'Brian, Mr. Archibald Murray, son of Mr. Charles Murray of Frederickton, P.E. Island, to Miss Victoria Hattie Murray, formerly of Pleasant Valley, Lot 21. (Other papers please copy.)"

. Evelyn Murray, Richard's niece comments:

"Re: Richard Archibald & Victoria Hattie. That is a mistery! There certainly would not be two of either of them. I rather suspect that they both went to the USA at the same time. It is quite possible that someone who didn't care for the Murrays put that in the P.E.I. Guardian. I had a patient here in Ontario when I was nursing tell me that he read of his death in the newspaper. Apparently a person who didn't like him was responsible."

In a 1993 letter, Grace (Mrs. Pomeroy) Murray, Richard's aunt, wrote that Richard was a former schoolteacher and that he owned a laundry in cooperation with his brother, Wesley, in Melrose, Massachusetts.

The 1930 census for district 270, Malden, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts (Ancestry.com image 19 of 37):

. Murray, Richard A., owner of home valued at $6000 residing at 41 Pine St., age 52, widower, he & parents born in Canada, immigrated in 1899, naturalized, propriator, laundry, not a veteran.

. Evelyn A., daughter, age 21, single, born in Canada, immigrated in 1912, naturalized.

. Oppenmeier, Fred W., boarder, age 32, married, first married at age 22, born in Washington, father born in Idaho, mother born in Califronia.

. Oppenmeier, Dorothy, border, age 31, married, first married at age 22, she & mother born in Washington, father born in Pennsylvania.

. Oppenmeier, Pearl, border, age 8, born in Washington.
