Seagrave, except that it must have taken place before 1166, when
Hereward's son, GILBERT, appears, eo nomine, in the carta of William,
Earl of Warwick.
On 24 Mar 1999 livetrade@cwixmail.com privately emailed to me:
. "The oldest written record known to include the name Segrave is the
Doomsday Book written in England in 1080. Thomas de Segrave was
listed as part owner of Segrave in Leicestershire and an annual fine of
fourteen shillings was imposed by William the Conqueror on his land."
. I do not know what, if any Thomas had to Hereward.
