Notes

. "Patrick Googins, tradition says, came from Ireland at an early age, and

was in the service of William Pepperell, at Kittery He was a woolen weaver

by trade. It is said, through the infuence of William Pepperell, he obtained

the hand of Marie Rogers, daughter of Richard Rogers Jr., in marriage. He

settled on the estate given him by his father-in-law at Pepperellborough

(now Old Orchard), what is now Ocean Park. he died there, Feb. 17, 1784,

aged 84 years.
