"Americana" magazine (Vol XIX #4) pub. by The American Historical
Society, on file at the Indiana State Library - G 929.05 A5121 V.19 ,on
pages 537-543, titles him "KNIGHT OF SEFTON"
From "Molyneux Genealogy" by Nellie Zada Rice Molyneux (1904) -
G929.2 M31m - held by the Indiana State Library : "Sir William Molyneux
s. his father in 1363. He distinguished himself at the Battle of Navaret,
in Spain,under Edward, the Black Prince, where he was made banneret in
1367, and continued to serve under that general in all his Spanish and
French wars. On his return he died at Canterbury in 1372. He married
1st, Johannah, dau. and heir to Jordan Ellall, Forester of Wersdale, by
Alice his wife, one of three daus. and co-heirs to Thomas de Twenge;
married 2nd, Margaret, dau. and heir to Sir Allen Hetton, of Buthel,
widow of Sir Robert Holland of Enkerston, brother to Sir Thomas Holland,
Knt. of the Garter."
The above narrative leaves somewhat unclear who was the mother of
our ancestor, Sir William Molyneux - Johannah or Margaret. Since the
"Americana" magazine article mentioned above states that it was
Margaret, that choice is the one I am using in my genealogy.
