published 1967, we learn that before LLEWELYN married the daughter of

"the Prince of the Isles" he had married a sister of the Earl of Chester.

None of EARL HUGH's known daughters would have been available to

marry LLEWELYN, but we know that the EARL HUGH had at least one other

illigitimate daughter. The assumption here is that LLEWELYN married an

otherwise unknown illegitimate daughter of the EARL HUGH and that she

died before LLEWELYN's marriage to the daughter of "the Prince of the

Isles". Paul Reed makes the point that if any children had been born of

this marriage, they would have been mentioned during the negotiations

for the aforementioned marriage. Also there should have been

ecclesiastical documents pertaining to the issue of the legitimacy of

any children born to this marriage. Most likely, then, there were no children

born to this marriage.
