Notes

On 23 March 1964, in response to my inquiry to the town clerk of

Yarmouth, Maine, regarding the ancestry of my great grandfather, Joseph

G. Mansfield, I received a response from Katherine P. Tinker. She cited no

sources. In that letter she identified Jedediah and Tabitha as parents of

James and Deborah Soule.

From the "Mayflower Families In Progress" series' volume on "George

Soule of the Mayflower and His Descendants for Four Generations", 2nd ed.,

published by The General Society of Mayflower Descendants in 1995: ..."84

.....He m. Duxbury 4 Nov. 1741 TABITHA BISHOP, b. Pembroke 7 Jan. 1718;

living 26 Oct. 1766; dau. of Ebenezer and Amie (Stetson) Bishop.

.....On 18 Oct. 1753 Jedediah Soule of Duxborough, yeoman, sold land in

Duxboro to Phineas Sprague.

.....On 6 Sept. 1754 Jedediah Soule of N. Yarmouth in the Co. of York,

yeoman, sold land in Duxboro to John Hunt of Duxborough, coaster.

.....Tabitha Soule was bp. as an adult 26 Oct. 1766 at the First Church, No.

Yarmouth ME.
