"Stone Sloops of Chebeague" (1949), chart pp. 114 & 132, states he was

born in the 1830s. Page 87 tells us that he crewed on the stone sloop

"Pigeon Hill", which hailed from Casco Bay in the 1830s.

Turton's "Plantagenet Ancestry" p.86, from O'Hart's "Irish Pedigrees".

Kelley's "Descents from the High Kings of Ireland" (TAG 54:1, 1978), says

"The dubious nature of the marriage of 'Maelmordha, L. of Naas' with Joan

O'Neill is amply indicated by the fact that the surname O'Neill was not in

existence at the time, and the female name Joan was completely

unknown in Ireland until much later."

Luke Stevens comments:

I am unable to find such a statement in O'Hart, except that Mael-Morda

married "Joan, dau. of O'Neill, prince of Ulster". Such anachronistic

use of Anglicized names with surnames is common in O'Hart and need not

necessarily be cause for concern, but it is not even clear whether she is

meant to be the mother of the child shown, since many wives on the same

line are not. Unfortunately, O'Hart cites no source, but from the

introduction to the earlier editions, it would seem he had used only three

sources when this line was compiled: O'Clery, MacFirbis, and O'Farrell;

and since I have checked the first and others have checked the second, it

would seem that the mysterious source for these wives is O'Farrell's

"Linea Antinqua". No such book is indexed in OCLC, so I have no idea

how to get a hold of a copy to check.
