. Catherine C., age _1, she & rest of household born in Maine.
. Matilda, age 16, seamstres.
. Carrie S., age 14.
. Geo., age 12.
. Charles G., age 7.
. Betsy Chase, age 76, old lady, personal estate valued at $300.
. I checked the LDS IGI for Valentine Mansfield There are only three Valentine Mansfields in their files.
. Two of the three Valentines are are a father / son relationship:
Valentine, born abt 1807 in Maine according to 1850 & 1860 censuses and his son Valentine, born about 1838 per the census. The IGI has a birth record for him on 13 Jun 1838 in Rockport, Knox Co., Maine.
. The third Valentine (RIN 12603) was born 8 Apr 1817 in either Dudley or Southbridge, Worcester Co., Mass. Records show him as the son of Jera Mansfield & Lucretia Corbin.
. Note that Valentine, son of Jera, was about ten years older than Valentine Sr. In light of the unusualness of the name, I STRONGLY suspect, but have no documentation, that the older Valentine was an uncle of Valentine Sr. - a younger brother (17 years younger) of Jera. This would make Valentine Sr. a son of Daniel Mansfield & Rhoda Albee. Of course he could just as well be a more distant cousin, descended from any of Jera's ancestors.
. I suspect that Valentine Sr. was born in Worcester Co., Mass and then moved to Rockport, Maine, where he married and raised his family.
