From Galliou and Jones' book, "The Bretons":
"In 1206 PHILIP AUGUSTUS, at the head of an expeditionary force
engaged in mopping up operations after the conquest of Normandy,
journeyed as far as Nantes where he confirmed Gui de Thouars, third
husband of the late DUCHESS CONSTANCE, as guardian of their infant
daughter, ALIX, half-sister of the dead Arthur. In the absence of Alienor,
an unfortunate pawn in KING JOHN's hands who died still a captive in
England in 1241, ALIX was recognized by the leading Breton churcmen as
reightful heiress of the duchy."
