Notes

. ". . . Mary, the oldest daughter, was a very fine seamstress and sewed for many wealthy people in South Bend including the Studebaker's, with a sewing room at the Tippecanoe Place. She married George Resnik, a Pittsburgh native that worked then at Ford's in Detroit. Son George was born and raised near the then new Holy Cross Parish which they and Uncle Rudy were early organizers of, with the first Masses held in Muessel School. Since Uncle George's death in 1957, a lovely apartment has been provided for his mother by George, in his family home. Aunt Mary died in 1980."

Following is Mary's obituary from the 1 Apr 1980 edition of the "South Bend Tribune":

. Mrs. Mary M. (Goepfrich) Resnik, 85, of 17399 Jackson Road, died at 8 a.m. today at her home after a brief illness. Born on Nov. 29, 1894, in South Bend, she had lived here all her life. Her husband, Anthony, died in 1955. She is survived by a son, George A., of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. William Stelzer, of Milford, Mich.

. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholiic Church, Mishawaka. Rev. Robert Hoevel, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. She was a charter member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and Corpus Christi Church.
