. "Yesterday I had a very quick look for the Harriet A Crossman that I saw in a record at the Archives and I was not mistaken, there was one. She was Harriet A Crossman, who had an Illegitimate daughter Mariah Cotton Crossman baptized June 20, 1869 in at St. Mary's Anglican church, Summerside. The father of Mariah is given as Michael Muloney. Harriet, the next year, married Peter Murphy. I have a meeting at the end of this week with an elderly man named Elvin Crossman who may be able to straighten the Crossmans out for us. He thinks Harriet was the sister of James. She would be about the same age as James and lived St. Eleanor's. I'll get back to you as things progress, (That sounds like a war correspondent)." - Mr. Pierce later emailed me that Elvin was of no help as he knew less about the family than we did!
There is an Elvin Crossman [as of May 2003] living at 2ÊGerene Dr., Summerside, PEI, C1NÊ4T9. Tel: (902)Ê436-8257.
