Notes

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants does not recognize her

as either the dau. of Roger and Isabella Chandler or as the wife of Jacob

Leonard. In fact, the society does not even, as far as I can tell,

acknowledge that she existed.

Her birth and death dates are from "The Ancestors of Paul McBride" on

the www, who puts her in both of these relationships, as does "Memorial

: Genealogical, Historical, & Biographical, of Solomon Leonard" (1896) by

Manning Leonard

Note that if she did indeed marry Jacob, and her sister did indeed marry

Solomon Leonard, we have a case of two sisters marrying a man and his

father.

Notes

This Mary Hook [the dau. of JACOB and MARY] is the most likely candidate

for being the wife of Stephen Bennit. Stephen and Mary were married in

Gloucester on 2 Jan 1728. This Mary would have been 19 years old at the

time of the marriage.

The other possible candidate indexed in the IGI is a Mary HOOKE, the

daughter of William and Mary. She was born on 31 Jan 1694 - making her

34 years old at the time of the marriage. Also note that her name has

the "E" added on the end.

Both of these Marys were born in Salisbury, Essex Co.
