Charles, who was born deaf. He went away to school somewhere and
became a cobbler. He was very successful and became wealthy. Printha
recalls that she once spent a few days with him and his wife, Rosie, at their
home in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The home was on Edwards Street near
downtown.
The 1900 census for ED 310, Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts (Ancestry.com image 28 of 37), at 46 Nichols Street, shows Charles C. Mansfield, born may 1866, age 34, he & parents born in Maine, marrried for 7 years, foreman, shoe fcty, renting. Wife, Rosa A., born Aug 1870, age 29, married 7 years, no children, she & parents born in Maine.
The 1910 census for district 322, sheet 10, 6th ward, Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts, lists, at 41 Howard Street, Charles C. Mansfield, age 43, he & parents born in Maine, foreman - stock room shoe factory with wife, Abbie R., age 39. Married for 17 years. Abbie is the mother of zero children.
The 1920 census for district 75, Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts,
(Ancestry.com image 36 of 43), lists Charles C. Mansfield as a homeowner
with no mortgage, at 5 Edwards Street, age 53, he, wife & their parents all
born in Maine, an employer engaged in shoe manufacturing.

The 1930 census for district 74, Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts
(Ancestry.com image page 39 of 49), lists Charles C. Mansfield, owner of
home valued at $8500, not owning a radio, age 64, first married at age 26,
he, wife, & all parents born in Maine, no occupation, not a veteran.
. Abbie R., wife, age 58, first married at age 32.
Examination of ages of birth and first marriage would indicate that Abbie
was Charles' second wife.
