Hetty King (Real name - Winifred Emms)
Born in 1883, her first appearance was in London, Shoreditch. She topped the bills working as a male impersonator from 1905. She amused her public with songs such as ‘All the Nice Girls Love a Sailor’ and ‘Piccadilly’. She appeared on the stage for over seventy years, and continued working in variety and Summer shows with remarkable verve and vitality until shortly before her death at the age of 89 on 28th
September 1972.
