Virginia Mae Daugherty Brooks CENTERTOWN -- Virginia Mae Daugherty Brooks, 68, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at her home in Taylorville, Ill., after a long illness with diabetes. She was formerly of Centertown. She was born on July 4, 1937, in Evansville to Harrison and Alta Mae Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jay, Junior and Dudley; and a sister, Lenora Daugherty.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Clyde Cecil Brooks of Taylorville; a son, Cecil Kevin (Tanya) Brooks of Elwin, Ill.; three daughters, Teresa Gail (Gene) Vincent of Centertown, Kathy (Marvin) Stevens of Pawnee, Ill., and Carolyn (Herschel) Ware of St. Peters, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Ursula Westmoreland, Michael Vincent and Christopher Vincent, all of Centertown, William "Will" Stevens and Jennifer Stevens, both of Pawnee, Joshua Brooks of Elwin, Joe Brooks of Rifle, Colo., Nicholas Brooks of Elwin, Savannah Ware of St. Peters, Mo., and Trista Graves of Springfield, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Rebekah Grace Westmoreland and Christopher Blake Vincent (born June 30, 2005), both of Centertown; a sister, Beth (Lee) Parrish of Sebring, Fla.; a brother, Freeman Daugherty of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Centertown. Burial will follow in Centertown Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home

General Notes: Wife -

Helen E. Rhoads, 91, formerly of Bern Township, died Jan. 21, 2008, in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center, Wernersville, where she had resided since 2001. She was the widow of Amandus E. Rhoads, who died June 6, 1982.

Born in Bern Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Clara E. (Dunkelberger) Brossman.

She had been employed for 20 years by Arrow International, Wyomissing, until her retirement in 1978.

She was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Township.

She is survived by a son, Gerald K. Rhoads, husband of June Rhoads, in Hong Kong.

Other survivors include two grandchildren, Amy Wall and Stephen Rhoads; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Zachary Wall.

Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Centre Township. Friends may call Wednesday 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
