Jay Knollin Haws, age 87, died Sunday, June 15, 1997 at his home, of causes incident to age.
Born September 6, 1909 in Tremonton, Utah, the son of John Kimball and Alice Florilla Wight Haws. Married Edith Broadbent, Nov. 3, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a building contractor and fireman at Dugway Proving Grounds. Served in the bishopric of the Lehi 5th Ward, active in the Boy Scouts, genealogist, served on Lehi City Council, Provo Temple ordinance worker for 14 years, teacher at Mission Home in Salt Lake City. Served with his wife on a mission to Australia from 1971-1973.Survivors include his wife, of Lehi; three sons and one daughter, John Knollin (Shirley) Haws, Lehi; Joseph Hugh (Deanna) Haws, Riverton; Ralph Jay (Connie) Haws, So. Jordan; Elaine (J.H.) Haws Hadfield, American Fork; 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mona Haws Haacke, of Orem.

Edith Broadbent Haws 1907 ~ 2005 LEHI - Our dear mother and grandmother, Edith Broadbent Haws, age 97, of Lehi, UT, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at her home from causes incident to age. She was born Dec. 6, 1907 in Lehi, UT to Joseph Samuel and Annie Shaw Broadbent. She married her husband, Jay Knollin Haws, Nov. 3, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After eight years, she has been reunited with her sweetheart. Following her graduation from Lehi High School, she attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Upon her marriage to Jay, she worked and helped in several family businesses. She and Dad spent many hours doing genealogy and temple work in the first years of their marriage which became a hobby during their entire life. Her favorite job, however, was being a Mom and a Grandmother. She provided untiring love and support to children and grandchildren. The Gospel was very important in the life of Mother. Her payday in life was when her children were doing and serving as we had been taught from childhood. Mom was very patriotic and supported her sons and son-in-law as they served for many years in the Utah Army National Guard. She loved growing flowers, especially her roses and the family garden. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings. Her favorite was serving as the Lehi Fifth Ward Relief Society President where she and the other sisters enjoyed quilting, making meat pies cooking and baking for Ward dinners. She was an ordinance worker in the Provo LDS Temple for 14 years and served two missions with her husband in the Sidney Australia Mission (1971-73) and the Missionary Training Center, SLC (1974-75). Dad and Mother loved to travel and took many of their grandchildren (three at a time) to the Church Historical sites in the East and the Palmyra Pageant in New York. Edith is survived by three sons and one daughter: John Knollin (Deanna Eggli) Haws of Lehi, Joseph Hugh (Deanna Lee) Haws of Riverton, Ralph Jay (Connie Dean) Haws of South Jordan currently serving in the West Indies Mission at Trinidad, and Elaine Haws (J.H.) Hadfield of American Fork, 23 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 65 great-grand-children, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, John Samuel and Alvin Dixon Broadbent and two sisters, Tora Broadbent Loveridge, and Ruth Broadbent Wagstaff Lamoreau and a granddaughter and great-grandson. Special thanks is extended to friends and grandchildren for their kindness, untiring love and care given to Grandma over the past several years, i.e. Leslie Desouza, Ryan and Julie Rocque, Laurene Dinehart and family, John K. Haws Jr. and family, Victor and Dallys Armenta, Elizabeth and Jarom Huntsman, and Jennifer Smith. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi Fifth Ward Chapel, 465 E. 300 N., Lehi, UT. Friends and family may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Married Alene Broadhead in Salt Lake Temple, producing 4 daughters. Everett was a Elder in the LDS Church. He was a veteran of World War II, Navy. Active in DAV, VFW and NARS. Everett was a wood foundry pattern maker, and a Cabinet builder by trade, owning his own business for many years. Dodson Brock

Dodson Brock, 82, of Joplin, died at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at St. John?s Medical Center.

Dodson was born May 7, 1923, in Carthage, Mo., to Fred and Winnifred Brock. He was an over-the-road truck driver for Hal Biscuit Co. and Salerno Biscuit Co. He retired in 1983. He was a member of Teamster Local No. 823 and the Joplin Golf Club. He thoroughly enjoyed repairing and building golf clubs.

He married Patsy Poteet on Oct. 7, 1961, in Miami, Okla. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Karen and her husband, Jessie Ortiz, of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepson, Gary McBride, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Charles Brock, of Aurora, Colo., and Donald Brock, of California; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Lee Brock; four brothers, Russell, Fred, Robert and Raymond; and three sisters, Dorothy, Betty and Jesseann.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Larry Six officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with David Sebastain, Billie McBride, Robert Russell, Leonard Doss and Joe Woods serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
