Clifford Ivey MENA — Clifford Eugene Ivey, 74, of Mena died Sunday, May 9, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born April 2, 1930, in Robert Lee, Texas. He was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War, was supervisor for an industrial waste site, a member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, and lifetime member of VFW and the Scottish Rite 32nd degree. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Rocky Cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena. Survived by: Leslie Harrison, two sons Jerry Scholl of Normal, IL; Curt Harrison of rural Saybrook, IL. Two sisters Milda Freiburger of Billings, Montana; Verna Brelje of Bismark, ND. Five grandchildren Heather, Cinnamon, John , Andrew Lauren.

After the funeral, the Dorcas Society held a dinner at the church.

She was a housewife, Sunday School teacher, worked for the telephone company, secretary-receptions for Hicks Gas in Colfax, IL.

Was the youngest of eight children. Baptised 4/29/1917 at Zion Lutheran Church, Elgin, ND with Pastor George Landgrebe officiating. Renata confirmed her faith at Zion in 1931.

She married her first husband Harzell Scholl who was killed overseas during WWII. One son was born to them, Jerry Scholl. Later she married her second husband Leslie Harrison. They had four children. Before her death, she and Leslie and family farmed in the Saybrook area for forty years before moving to the town of Saybrook. Renata was preceded in death by two sons, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Soon after Renata married Leslie, she became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Anchor, IL, and was member in the Dorcas Society and co-chairman for the Funeral Dinner Committee. Also, a member of the Saybrook American Legion Auxiliary Post #427.

- from "Paragould Daily Press" (date unknown) James Brewer, age 78, died at seven yesterday morning at his home at Marma duke following an illness of 30 days due to pneumonia and complications. He was a native of Tennessee but had been a resident of Greene Co most of his life. He was a farmer.

Funeral services were conducted at two this afternoon from the Marmaduke Baptist Church and burial was made in the Rector cemetery. The Rev. Charley Robinson officiated.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula Brewer; six daughters, Mrs. Mel Larson of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Henry Oswald of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. Herbert Shelley of Marmaduke, and Mrs. Frank Rogers of Lafe, Mrs. Charles Graham of Marmaduke and Miss Bonnie Brewer at home; four sons, Earl Brewer of San Bernardino, Calif., Clifton Brewer of the Navy, stationed in Panama, Alvin Brewer of San Bernardino, and Leonard Brewer of Marmaduke; three brothers, George and Septer Brewer of Corning, and Otto Brewer of Marmaduke; and 16 grandchildren.
