The following information about Lura Belle Waters was obtained from her granddaugher, Aletta McCarter Morris: "I never heard Grandma (Lura Belle) or uncle Poley refer to another sibling, but there was a young man, born around 1900 who was in a lot of the photos. His name was Raymie, but I don't know what his last name was. Grandma's birth date was October, 1881. I don't have a document to prove this, but I remember it, and I have some notes that mother helped me make over twenty years ago. Poley and Lura were both very tall, and I think Grandma had red hair when she was young; she also had a very distinctive, jolly, laugh." From Aletta McCarter Morris via e-mail 10/19/2005 Went to Lincoln County, Oklahoma this weekend and met the woman who had been such a good friend to Uncle Roy. She had the book from Grandma's funeral, and inside was the following obituary: "Mrs. Lura Bell Bratton was born October 8, 1882 at Enterprise, Kansas, the daughter of George W. and Martha Waters. She departed this life at Chandler, Oklahoma on September 29, 1968, at the age of 85 years. "She was married to John C. Bratton on May 15, 1909 at Bonham, Texas. They had one son, Roy. "The Brattons moved to Oklahoma 45 years ago and have resided in Carney since that time. "Mrs. Bratton led a Christian life and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. "Her husband preceded her in death in 1946. A son, Jewel McCarter, died in 1944, and two brother also preceded her in death."Survivors include one son, Roy Bratton of Carney; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Susie Waters and Mrs. Nora Waters, both of Oklahoma City." They liv ed their entire married lives on the old Braucht farm in Duncan Twp, Mercer Co, IL where his parents, Clara and John Braucht, Jr. had lived and his grandparents, Catharine and John Braucht, Sr. had lived. They were the parents of four daughters and two sons, all born at the Braucht home. Obituary "A. Clair Braucht, 79, of north of Joy, prominent farmer, bank director and former member of the Mercer Co Board of Supervisors and chairman at one time, died at 12:10 yesterday morning in Muscatine General Hospital where he had been a patient for a week. Death followed an extended illness." "Mr. Braucht was born on the same farm where he had resided all his life on April 19, 1882, a son of John and Clara Gilmore Braucht.. On January 14, 1904, he married Edna Willets at her home in Perryton and they resided on the Braucht homestead since then. He was a director of the National Bank of Aledo for many years and was active in the bank reorganization after the bank holiday about 30 years ago. He was also active in many civic and community projects in addition to his service on the Board of Supervisors, was a member of the Farm Bureau and was widely known in Western IL and Eastern IA Surviving are the widow; a son, Ledru Braucht of Joy; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Mayhew of Reynolds, Mrs. Joe Bodeen of Aledo, Mrs. Henry Pierce of Monmouth and Mrs. Herbert Higgins of Alexis; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Fred Felton of near Aledo, and a niece, Mrs. Ernest Snell of Aledo. He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.

(Fam ily Bible of George B. and Permelia Gilmore, Dt'd 1850, Mercer Co Museum, Aledo, Mercer Co, IL.)] Obituary John Braucht, 80 years old, resident of Mercer Co since long before Aledo was laid out, was buried in Millersburg Cemetery Sunday, after simple funeral services held at 2:30 P.M. at the Millersburg Presbyterian Church. Rev. Marvin M. Walters, of Green Bay, WI, former Mercer Co minister, officiated. Mr. Braucht's first illness was his last. He was stricken ill with heart disease at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. J. Heald at Aledo, Saturday. When his condition became serious a physician was called for the first time in his life, but his condition became more serious and he died Friday, August 15, at 2:30 P.M. As a farmer and prominent stock raiser, Mr. Braucht was widely known. He had been a resident of Mercer Co for 77 years and of Aledo for 22 years and leaves many friends. He was born August 6, 1849, at the home of his parents, John and Catherine Ritter Braucht of Findlay, OH, the youngest son of a family of three children. One brother Levi, died many years ago and his only sister, Mary Braucht Epperly, died July 27, 1929. Mr Braucht came to IL with his parents at the age of three years and they lived the first year on South Prairie. The following year they bought and moved to the present Braucht homestead in Duncan Twp, where he lived until December 1906, when he moved to Aledo and bought his late home on North College Avenue. He was married to Miss Clara Jeanette Gilmore at Aledo on October 6, 1870. She preceded him in death, May 5, 1928. Four children were born to them; Mrs. Bertha B. Heald of Aledo; Mrs. Pearl B. Henry of Reynolds; Mrs. Mamie B. Felton of Aledo and Clair Braucht of Joy. There are six grandchildren; Mrs. Pearl Heald Snell, Misses Veneta, Catherine, Dorothy and Ruth and Ledru Braucht. One grandson John W. Braucht, died February 8, 1913

The 1900 census lists, William age 59, Mary M. age 56, Walter age 26, Lizzie age 23, Omer age 20, Chancy age 16, Glenn age 13 and a grandson? Everet? age 14, B. June 1886. I can find no record of him anywhere else. Obituary IN the death of William Epperly of Duncan Twp, Mercer Co has lost one of its worthy and prominent citizens. He was an old settler, born in Eliza Twp September 15, 1839, son of William Epperly, Sr. The Epperlys came from Virginia to in IN 1831, and to Mercer Co in 1836, and were among the very earliest settlers of that part of the Co. William Epperly was one of a large family of brothers and sisters, who likewise have had a prominent part in making Mercer Co what it is. His marriage to Mary Braucht occurred March 30, 1862, and to this union have been born ten children, all of whom are living; Albert T. of Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. C.H. Thornhill of Rock Island; Mrs. Kate Geesey of Aledo; Omer of Larned, KS; Hamilton, John, Walter, Chauncey, who reside near home and Glen and Mary E. are at home. There are left beside to mourn his loss, his beloved wife, and the three brothers, Jackson and John of Joy, and Eli of Duncan Twp; and three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Watson of Aledo; Mrs. Sarah Boney of Riddle, OR, and Mrs. Mary Shaffer of Denver, Arapaho Co, CO. There are fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Epperly died suddenly of heart failure at his home Monday evening, December 16, 1912, aged 73 years, 3 months and 1 day. The funeral occurred at his late home Thursday, December 19th. Rev. George D. Adamson, the pastor at Joy, had charge of the services, Rev. Norbury W. Thornton delivering the funeral address from Job 14:14, "If a man die, shall he live again?" and Job 19:25, "I know that my Redeemer liveth." The funeral was largely attended by a large family connection and by citizens from different parts of the Co. The interment was in Millersburg Cemetery

Obituary Mrs. Mary Epperly, 85 years old, one of the pioneer residents of Mercer C o, died at her home in Joy, Wednesday, July 24, a victim of heart disease. She had been a resident of this Co since 1852, when she crossed the prairies from OH in a covered wagon with her parents. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 at the Joy Presbyterian Church, with Rev. W.J.B. Tate of Buffalo Prairie officiating. Burial was in Millersburt Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Virgil Epperly, George Epperly, Lee Geesey, Leo Thornhill, Chester Bonynge and Lawrence Morrow, all grandsons. Following is the obituary prepared by members of the family: Mary Magdalene Braucht was born August 30, 1843 in Hancock Co, OH. in the year 1852 she and her parents came to reside in Mercer Co. She was married to William Epperly March 30, 1862. To this marriage were born 10 children; Albert of Portland, Multnomah Co, OR; Mrs. Emma Thornhill of Davenport; Mrs. Kate Geesey of Aledo; Hamilton, John, Walter, Omar and Glen of Joy; Chauncey of Aledo and Lizzie who died November 24, 1927. Mrs. Epperly was preceded in death by her husband December 16, 1912. There are also left to mourn her going a brother John of Aledo, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Epperly lived the greater part of her life on the farm in Duncan Twp. She was a kind hearted and loving mother, easy to make friends with. She was a thorough Christian and an active member of the Worden Presbyterian church of Petersville, IL. Later she transferred her membership to Millersburg in 1902 where she remained a member until the Presbyterian Church was built in Joy, after which her membership was transferred there in 1907. Here she was a faithful member until taken in death by heart disease on July 24, 1929, age 85 years, 11 months and 24 days.

FLORENCE, Ala. -- Era Breckenridge Eubanks, 89, of Florence died Wednesda y, Oct. 17, at Eliza Coffey Memorial Hospital in Florence. She was a native of Greene Co and a homemaker.

Era Breckenridge Eubanks, 89, of Florence, Ala., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Eliza Coffey Memorial Hospital. She was born April 14, 1912, in Greene County. She was a wife and homemaker. She was also a member of Helton Drive Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee and Rowena Roberts Breckenridge; her husband, Glen Eubanks; and a grandson, Donald Eubanks. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Eubanks of Florence; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenave and Dean Curtis of Judsonia; five grandchildren, Donna Curtis Root of Antioch, Tenn., Kathy Curtis Haugh of Mannington, W.Va., Carol Curtis Kell of Searcy, Randy Curtis of Memphis and Melody Eubanks McCrary of Florence; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Jeff McCrary officiating. Eulogy will be given by Marvin Brown. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home
