Helton
Clara B. Helton, 91, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at her home.
She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Helton; granddaughter, Kathy Heath; son-in-law, James R. Price; four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Laverne Helton of Glade Spring; five daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Don Heath, Eula and James Terry, Elsie and James Galliher and Edith Price, all of Saltville and Angela and David Leal of Chester; one sister, Ella May Hartman of Saltville; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Myrna Nash of Rainelle, W.Va.
Funeral services were conducted Monday evening, July 25, 2005, in Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday morning, July 26, 2005, in Mount Rose Cemetery.
The family received friends Monday evening, July 25, 2005, at the funeral home just prior to the funeral service.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements

More About SAMUEL HARRISON CARY: Burial: Cary Cemetery, Natchez Trace Park, Henderson Co, Tennessee - Natchez Trace State Park, Henderson Co, Tennessee. Notes for relationship between Samuel Harrison Cary and unknown woman: This relationship is pieced together and projected, on the handed down oral traditions of members of Abner Henry Harrison, Samuel LaFayette Cary, and Maraih Cary Dodd's families. The oral tradition is that William Ervin (Bill) Cary, Sr. was a son who Samuel Harrison Cary fathered with an unmarried teenaged girl in the area around Shiloh, in Carroll Co, TN in the mid 1840s. Her identity is not known. The tradition further states that Mary Minerva "Polly" Akin Cary, Samuel's wife, and mother of several of his children already, became aware of the illegitimate child of her husband, and took the child into their own home and raised him as one of their own children. Samuel and Minerva had several more children after this incident was alleged to have ocurred. While there are no currently known facts to substantiate this theory, the story was related separately, but substantially the same, by Aline Cole, daughter of Arco Cary in Abner Henry Harrison Gary's line; Ondeen Dodd Myracle, daughter of Joe Dodd in Mariah Cary Dodd's line, from a written journal her mother, Vadie Noles Dodd kept; and by Bertie Killibrew, daughter of Samuel LaFayette Cary and granddaughter of Samuel Harrison Cary in 2000. Bertie Killibrew is still living at her home in Parsons, TN b July 2001. There are thirteen recorded children of Samuel Harrison Cary and Mary Minerva Akin, however, the obituary for William Alfred (Alf) Cary in the Lexington Progress, May 26, 1944, states, "He was the son of Samuel and Minerva Cary and the last of a family of fourteen children.".

Said to be 1/2 Indian; she supposedly was a doctor. Some sources give na me as Minerva Polly Akin but husband's tombstone says "Husband of Manerva Cary." 1880 census shows "Polly M, age 55, but "Polly" is believed to be only a nickname ( "Polly" is a Scottish pet name for Mary.). EVELYN B. AKIN
Evelyn B. Akin, Leavenworth, KS passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Cushing Memorial Hospital. She was born November 1, 1922 in Barry County, MO the daughter of Robert and Gladys(Long) Sexton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Vester O. Akiin.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Janice Rickett, Bill Akin and wife Mary Sue, David Akin and wife Elaine, Barbara Mears and husband Richard, Martha Hund, Nancy Kane and husband Robert, and Jeannie Sikes and husband Daniel, twenty nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was a home maker for most of her life, worked for Army National Bank for a short time, and was a member of Church Of Christ, Leavenworth.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth, KS 66048. Funeral service will be held 1:30 P.M Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Church Of Christ, 3911 10th Ave., Leavenworth, KS.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Church Of Christ

General Notes: Husband -

From his obituary, we know he was bowling with his team when stricken by an apparent heart attack. He died shortly afterwards in the office of a local physician. Arlie was employed by Union Electric Co. as Office Coordinator of the Transmission Dept. in Rivermines, Mo. His body was taken to the Boyer Funeral Home in Deslodge, Mo. until Jan. 13, Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted 1/13/65 at Cantwell Baptist Church by Rev. Edwin Hunter. He will be buried in St. Francois Memorial Park of C. Z. Boyer & Son of Desloge. Arlie was treasurer and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Cantwell.

Arthur, the oldest son, left home at an early age to follow the wheat harvests through Kansas and the Dakotas. He would leave home without a word and return months later as if he'd simply gone out to run an erran
When he was in his late twenties, his maternal grandfather, Bill Cavitt, became ill and Arthur helped take over the duties of running the "Cavitt Place".
Arthur and Clara eventually made their home near Wyaconda, Missouri, living and farming there for 50 years
