GREER, SC - April 30 - George N. Westmoreland, 68, died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday at his home in Greer, Route 1, after three month's illness. He was born and reared in Spartanburg Co, a son of the late Jess [sic] and Jane Newman Westmoreland, and lived in the Woods Chapel community.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dela [sic] Bragg Westmoreland; two daughters, Mrs. Enoree Jones and Mrs. Lois Edge of Greenville; five sons, Albert, Groce, Buren, Raymond and Clinton W. Westmoreland, all of Greer; four brothers, Ben of Greer, Derrick of Laurens, Doyle of Walhalla, and Ralph Westmoreland of Woodruff,Route 1; one sister Mrs. Calvin Chandler of Gaffney; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Bellview Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Walter Satter----(words missing) church cemetery.

GREER, SC - Mrs. Della Bragg Westmoreland, 74, of 27 Robinson Street, died Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at a Greenville hospital after four months of declining health and a serious illness of three weeks.
Mrs. Westmoreland was a native of Spartanburg County and a daughter of the late Landrum and Cynthia Brown Bragg. She had lived in Greer for 40 years. Her husband, George Westmoreland, died in 1949.
Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Enoree Jones of Greer and Mrs. Lois Edge of Duncan; five sons, Albert, Groce, and Raymond, all of Greer, and Buren and Clinton Westmoreland, both of Taylors; one brother, Clarence of Woodruff; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church by the Revs. B.F. Hawkins, Clyde Ogle and R.W.Sammeth. Burial will be in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Raymond and Harold Westmoreland, Herman and Furman Cooper, Graydon Bragg and Tom Wakefield. Members of the Fidelity Sunday School Class of the Fairview Church will form an honorary escort.
The body is at Wood Mortuary and will be taken to the home today at 1:30 p.m., and taken to the church Friday at 2 p.m.

Bruce Clyde Holdaway
Bruce Clyde Holdaway, 57 Our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa returned to his heavenly father on April 29, 2004 in Springville, Utah.

He was born May 1, 1946 in Provo, Utah to Clyde Amos and Delphia Fransen Holdaway. He spent his childhood years in Vineyard, until moving to Payson where he obtained his high school diploma.

He married the love of his life, Colleen Brailsford, on July 11, 1975. Their marriage was later solemnized in the SLC LDS temple.

Bruce Worked for Springville City for 32 years, where he had the opportunity to get out and socialize with people which he loved to do. Everyone will remember him for his sense of humor and outgoing attitude.

Some of Bruce's hobbies include fishing, entering contests, vacationing, spending time with family, serving his church callings, and going on special drives with his wife.

He is survived by his friend, his lover, and his soul mate, Colleen Brailsford Holdaway. He is also survived by his 9 children: Toni (Kelly) Day, R. Heath (Vanessa Shelley) Holdaway, Bruce (Stephanie Peterson) Holdaway, Joshua Holdaway, Kamyelle Holdaway, Travis Holdaway, Austin Holdaway, Terry Holdaway, Lisa (Keith) Bellows; and 10 grandchildren.

Dad, we want you to know how much we love and appreciate all the extra hard work you've done for us. You will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Spring Creek LDS Stake Center, located at 760 North 400 East, in Springville. Friends and family may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, or at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.

General Notes: Wife -

After their marriage in 1872, Ella and Charles moved into a house around t he corner and down the street from her family's home in Vincennes. The Branch home was near the railroad station. Charles Branch worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (Mary Alice Long to Mary Ellen Lind 15 Feb 1985). Mother thought he may have been a conductor. He would be away occasionally at least overnight, often staying in Chicago. He was thought of as a handsome man. Nellie (AKA Helen, "Mamie") Esther Branch was born May 6, 1873 in or near Vincennes. Frank Branch was born in February 21, 1857. Jessie branch was born in January 2, 1877. Incidentally, the children were named by their father. Mamie always said that they were given horse's names! It is possible that Nellie was named in honor of Charles' grandmother, Eleanor (Shields) Branch. If so, the girls never mentioned knowing of it. Jessie took the name Jessica, and Nellie (Mamie) took the name of "Helen" years later, even though she had given that name to her first daughter and her third granddaughter, names Helen Ottielie, had been born. Before 1880, Ella sent Charles packing. she found a letter from another woman, apparently in a pocket, and as the story goes Grandma put his clothes on the porch with a note telling him to never come back and that she would NEVER give him a divorce. She did not even call him when Frank died. Mamie told Mary Ellen Lind that her mother took in washing after her father left, which was mortifying to her. Helen Francis said that she never heard that. Ella's son Frank died in February of 1889. According to Mary Alice Long ("Tootsey") in a letter to Mary Ellen Lind, February 15, 1985: "(Grandma) lived with (her parents) after Charles (Grandpa Branch) left, at least for a while, and then lived around the corner on Sixth Street, and supported her family by sewing and helping with newborns." The 1880 Know Co Census (taken June 3, 1880) records Ella and her children living with James and Sophie McClure. James Scott McClure was 67 and listed as "mail agent." Sophia McCord McClure was 59. Ella's brother Samuel, age 22, is also listed as a resident in the household. He is said to be a "druggist." Ella was 30, Nellie was 7, Frank was 5 and Jessie was 3. IN is recorded as their father's birthplace, which differs from the family tradition that he was born in OH. After Charles left he lived in Chicago and eventually remarried. No divorce for Charles and Emma Branch has yet been located. When Helen Francis Planque was a little girl, probably when they lived in Goshen, she went with her mother and Tootie to Chicago where they met Grandpa branch and a woman who much impressed her. Mary Ellen Lind recalls, "Based on her telling this tale, I envisioned a very fancily dressed woman. Mother thought this trip was to "do something" so that Grandpa Branch could get married." As he was apparently already married, the visit may have been to introduce his second wife to his daughter and grandchildren. According to the "Brown History" typescript, Charles was a mason. According to the 1880 Census Helen was living with Samuel L. McClure with children Nellie (Helen) age 7, Frank age 5, and Jessie age 3
