Ann Boyd Allred
WINSTON-SALEM -- Mrs. Allred, 70, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2004 at her home. She was born January 5, 1934 in Davidson County, the daughter of Claytie Miller Boyd.
Mrs. Allred was a member of Faith Chapel in Lexington, as well as being a lifelong member of the Moravian Church. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, and the National Association of Women in Construction. She did volunteer work for the National Cancer Society and served on the board, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and was an active member of the Winston-Salem Bowling Association, sponsoring teams to the national, state and local tournaments. She was a board member of Little Heart Strings Day Care Center and was very active in many charities.
Surviving is her husband, Jim Allred of the home; three daughters, Jeanne Bryant and husband Butch of Rock Hill, SC, Crystal Desch and husband Bill of Charlotte, Linda McKnight and husband Bart of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, Robert and Gene Bryant, Graham and Bradley Jones, Landis, Haley, and Katie McKnight; five stepchildren, Jim L. Allred Jr. and wife Theresa of Wilmington, Kenneth Allred, Sr. and wife Joni of Wake Forest, Dwight Allred and wife Darla of Mayodan, Nancy K. Allred Hill of Mayodan, Teresa Allred Walker and husband Michael of Hillsborough; ten step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild; her extended family, Wayne Miller of Ocean Isle Beach, Pat Sullivan of Bolivia, NC and a very special friend, Patty Wilson of Lexington.
A funeral service was conducted Thursday December 9, 2004 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Ray Burke officiating. Interment was in Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice for their acts of kindness and support.
