Funeral services for Gerald were held at Ivalee Baptist Church on Saturday, September 20, 1969 at 3:00 in the afternoon. Rev. I.C. Welborn and Rev. Lewis Haney officiated. Burial was at Conn Cemetery. Gallant. He was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. Member of Ivalee Baptist Church. Appointed Elijah Hester-Guardian of Abner, Jr He lived the longest of any of Charles' sons. He was about 80 years old w hen he died. in 1790 he was living in the St. Marys District of Orange Co, NC He was involved in only one land transaction in Orange Co, NC in 1810, he and his son Jesse, owned 128 acres in the Ledge of Rocks area of Granville Co, NC He continued to pay taxes on this land through 1820. There must have been other land transactions, but they were not found.
