Served as pilot and aircraft commander for NATO operations and as command er and operations officer for 781st Carrier Squadron in Evreux, France. After leaving Europe, he flew the C-124 as aircraft commander in worldwide support of special weapon s for the Atomic Energy Commission in support of the Army, Navy and Air Force for four years.
In 1956, in Rome, Italy, with then U.S. Ambassador Clare Booth Luce, he was presented the Star of Solidarity by the president of Italy for "outstanding service" to the country. He attained the rank of major in the USAF before discharge in 1960.

FUNERAL NOTICE IN WILKES Co PAPER, May 1925 WILLIAM O. BOBO passes at Tignall Former Legislator and Sheriff of Wilkes Co for twelve years, prominent religious circles. Mr. William O. Bobo died at his residence in Tignall Thursday morning, the 7th inst., and will be buried with Masonic honors this afternoon in the Tignall Baptist Church burying grounds, he having been a member of Lafayette Lodge #23 F.& M. of Washington for many years. Mr. Bobo was born December 28, 1857 Near Hartwell, Hart Co, GA and came to Wilkes Co when about eight years old with his parents who lived Near Danburg for many years. He was a very successful farmer and was elected Sheriff of this Co for seven times, serving as sheriff for twelve years and resigning after that time to run for the Office of Commissioner of Roads and Revenues, was elected as Commissioner but did not serve. He served in the Georgia Legislature for two years as the Representative from Wilkes but declined to run the second time. In early life he joined the Baptist Church and has been a member of the Tignall Church since its organization. He was a member of Columbian Chapter Royal Arch Masons and was held in high esteem by his associate members. He was also a director of the People's Bank of Tignall. Mr. Bobo is survived by his wife, who was Miss Belle Mulkey, three daughters, Mrs. James Adams and Mrs. W.C. Haynie of Tignall and Mrs. Ben Lee Walton of Asheville, N.C., one son, Mr. J. Ebb Bobo of Tignall, two sisters, Mrs. B.C. Arnold of Tignall and Mrs. Victoria J. Smith of Toccoa, Stephens Co, GA.

Catherine Bodeen Catherine B. Bodeen, 93, of Aledo, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services Tuesday at Fippinger's. Memorials may be made to College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com. She was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Duncan Township, a daughter of A. Clair and Edna Willits Braucht. She received her education in Duncan Township and Aledo, graduating from Aledo High School in 1931. She earned her bachelor's degree and teaching certificate from Western Illinois University, Macomb. She married Joseph A. Bodeen June 27, 1938, in Joy. He preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1985. Catherine was an elementary school teacher for 38 years, having taught early in her career in the one-room Vernon and Duncan schools, both in Duncan Township. She later taught elementary education in Millersburg and Aledo. Her memberships include College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Mercer County Retired Teachers, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mercer County HEA. She enjoyed playing the organ, sewing, quilting, genealogy and spending time with her friends and family. Left to honor her memory are her brother, Ledru Braucht, Joy; brother-in-law, Herbert Higgins, Alexis; nieces and nephews, Martha Nielsen, Buffalo Prairie, Mary Jane and Kenneth O'Brien, Monmouth, Ann and Dennis Schwartzkopf, Sterling, Colo., John and Leora Mayhew, Aledo, Blaine and Stephanie Braucht, Joy, Robert and Marianne Peirce, Cameron, Ill., Dennis and Patti Higgins, Alexis, Keith and Lynn Braucht, Bloomington; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, John Braucht; and sisters, Veneta Mayhew, Dorothy Peirce and Ruth Higgi

General Notes: Husband -
Hallie Chester was a kind and loving father and husband. His word was h is bond. Had a hot temper but never abusive -- just "cussed". No formal education but very intelligent -- I could read him an algebra problem and, in just a minute, he would tell me the answer. He could not tell me how he got the answer but it was always right. His family left Dover, TN. in 1880 or 1881 and came to TX -- Paris and then Dennison and moved on to Indian Territory where he grew up and married my Mother's oldest sister. The two families lived close to each other during this time. Daddy was a wonderful raconteur and I was enthralled with his tales of those early days of his life in Indian Territory. He farmed and then around 50 went to work for Sinclair in Oklahoma and worked for them until he and Mother (Carrie Boehme Frosch) married and he moved back to TX to live with her and her children there. Hallie Chester was a kind and loving father and husband. His word was h is bond. Had a hot temper but never abusive -- just "cussed". No formal education but very intelligent -- I could read him an algebra problem and, in just a minute, he would tell me the answer. He could not tell me how he got the answer but it was always right. His family left Dover, TN. in 1880 or 1881 and came to TX -- Paris and then Dennison and moved on to Indian Territory where he grew up and married my Mother's oldest sister. The two families lived close to each other during this time. Daddy was a wonderful raconteur and I was enthralled with his tales of those early days of his life in Indian Territory. He farmed and then around 50 went to work for Sinclair in Oklahoma and worked for them until he and Mother (Carrie Boehme Frosch) married and he moved back to TX to live with her and her children there. There, he returned to farming. He had endless patience with children but strict. (Medical):had a severe stroke in December 1950 but recovered very well
General Notes: Wife -
Raised to speak German (her father came to this country as a child) a nd to obey without question. Her mother died when she was young and left her with a younger sister and brothers to take care of. She did all the housework, sewed, canned and had to work in the field. When her father remarried, another German with several children, she was so happy because it took a load off of her shoulders. At 18 she was told to marry her stepbrother and the marriage was not a good one for her. He made her grub stumps from the field while he stood there, smoked his pipe and criticized her work. She would plow, chop cotton, pick cotton, etc. until she went into labor. Her last child she delivered by herself - completely alone. She became the person that people came to when someone in the family was sick or in labor when a doctor was not available (which was much of the time) and the doctor would also send for her when he needed help. She was much loved by everyone and was the most considerate and caring person I've ever known. Mr. Frosch died and left her a widow with seven children - the oldest around 14 and the youngest around 3. Extremely hard times followed. In Dec. 1929, she married Hallie Chester, her oldest sister's husband (a love match). He would bring her the first flower he found in the Spring and the last one in the Fall and in between. Times were hard (this was the Great Depression) but there was always enough food on the table and she no longer worked in the fields. When she died in 1975 though she had been gone from the area for many years, the funeral home overflowed and there were masses of flowers. They all remembered and came to pay their last respects.
May 27, 1999: According to translation of Family Register of Grandpa's Family Bible, mother's name was RENI. Cannot believe Mother changed her name. She must have been nicknamed "Carrie" and thought that was her name.
June 2001: Have been in contact with the grandson of Ottilie Boehm Kuentz, daughter of Traugott Boehm. His wife, Patsy, reads German and said that Mother's name in the family register looks to her as if it is KARI, which is the German spelling of "Carrie". That makes a lot more sense and I am going with that.
Fall 1999: Bob Haynes found the record of Mother's christening. She was christened as CARRIE so perhaps the translator did not translate her name correctly or something.
OBITUARY NOTICE FOR CARRIE BOEHM CHESTER;
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie B. chester, 86, of boston, Teas, were held Saturday, September 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. Don Bell officiating. Interment followed at the King Cemetery in Aley. Mrs Chester passed away Thursday in a Texarkana Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in the Oklahoma, Mrs. Chester was a former resident of Mabank, and had resided in Boston for three years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include three sons, Herman Frosch of Eustace, Carl Frosch of Mabank and Willie Frosch of Boston; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Witherspoon of Queen City, TX, Mrs. Nora Nash and Mrs. Carrie Mae Laxton, both of Pasadena, TX, and Mrs. Walterine Bryant of Fulton, TX; one brother, Otto Boehme, of Mabank; one sister, Mrs. Donie Humphries of Garland; fourtten grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren.
Note by Carrie Mae Chester Laxton: Mother was not born in Oklahoma. She was born at the South Grape Creek Community, Gillespie Co, TX near Fredericksburg. She was christened on May 27, 1890, along with Lydia (4-21-1884), Otto (1-8-1886), Arthur (4-24- 1887). They were christened in Fredericksburg at the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. John R. Boheler Owner of Boheler's Grocery BLACKSBURG – John Robert Boheler, 75, of 549 Kings Creek Dr., died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in York, he was the husband of Doris Westmoreland Boheler and son of the late Herby Boheler and the late Martha Bolin Dover. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and was owner and operator of Boheler's Grocery Store. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Glenda B. Norman of Clover, Audrey B. Farris of Blacksburg and Angela B. Blanton of Kings Creek; a brother, Bill Dover of Kings Creek; four sisters, Janice White, Sue Walker, Dorothy Wells, all of Kings Creek, and Shirley White of Gaffney; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Smyrna Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Ralph Lail and Joe Mullis. Burial will be in Canaan Methodist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Smyrna Baptist Church, 1613 McGill Hwy., Smyrna, S.C. 29743.
