Katherine Williams

Katherine L. Williams, 87, of Aledo died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, with the Rev. Robert Stoner officiating. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where Aledo OES Chapter No. 126 and Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary will conduct services following the visitation. She was born March 17, 1920, in Primgar, Iowa, a daughter of Benjamin and Sayda Nyberg Walters. She graduated from Aledo High School and attended Rock Island County Nursing School. She married Richard A. Williams Oct. 30, 1936, in Tipton, Iowa.
She was employed at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Ill., for 18 years and the former Moline Lutheran Hospital, retiring in 1975.
Katherine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aledo, Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary, OES Chapter 126 in Aledo, DAR and National Republican Women's Club, Mercer County Senior Citizens Center and Rebekah Lodge No. 360 in Oquawka.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Darla Williams, Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Earl Hastings, Elko, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Franklin Williams; two brothers; and three sisters

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Epworth United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, 6450 N. Allisonville Road. Calling hours are today from 4-8 p.m. in the Leppert Life Story Funeral Home, Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th St., and at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Additional calling hours will be in the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home in Pennville from 1-2 p.m. Saturday with burial in IOOF (Twin Hills) Cemetery in Pennville.
