General Notes: Husband -

I think that the closeness of my Uncle Bill to my Mother and Daddy began w hen he was about 21 or so. He came to stay with us in Elizabethton, TN for six months or so and loved Mom to death because of many things but her banana pudding in particular. The circle was still in the making in the summer of 1963 when Mother and Daddy and I went to Uncle Bert's for a weekend to see him while he was passing through. He invited me to work construction with him in Pittsburgh, PA and I took my first plane ride at that time. $26.00 was the one-way fare. Spent six weeks with him and went back the following summer for three months. Treated me just like a son...giving me a car to drive and gas at a local service station. Good food to eat and nightclubs and harness racing, what we did on the weekends. Point being, he was doing for me just what Mother and Dad had done for him 22 years earlier. I liked it so much when I got out of basic I requested assignment in Irwin, PA..about 20 miles away. He found us a new efficiency apt in West Mifflin, about three miles from his house and he was there when I received the news that Daddy had passed away. He was in our apt in no time flat and drove us back to TN for the funeral. Now 30 years have passed since that time and he calls me or I call him three or four times a month. I also go to Florida in the winter to visit for a few days, just him and me. He's my last link to Daddy and I care for him very, much. It will be a sad time when he passes that's for sure. The circle has completed since he was 21 or so with him helping me as Mother and Dad help him. There are many things about him that are important but the one of the most important was how much he admired and loved his brothers, sisters and mother.
