JOY - Mark A. Stead, 32, Joy, died Saturday (Nov. 5, 2005) from injuries he received in a traffic accident near Oquawka. He was born May 8, 1973, in Jonesboro Ark., the son of Jack and Bonnie Campbell Stead. Surviving are his mother of Joy; two sisters, Gwen (and John) Terrill, Joy, and Ginger (and Jake) Jones, Hilton; a brother, Greg Stead, Concord N.H.; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father. He graduated from Westmer High School. He worked at Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and had worked at Vitales in Aledo, Pizza Hut and Dominoes in Muscatine, Iowa, as a marketer for APAC and at Bighams Floor Covering in Aledo. He was a musician and a drummer and played for area bands, including 7 Day Band, Swinging Johnsons, Misdirected Blues and Buckshot. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery near Joy. General Notes: Husband -

He never married. On 16 Feb 1910 Ashel went to Oklahoma with his brother, Robert and sister Cora, where they and farming interests together. Another brother, Howard, had filed on new Oklahoma land the preceding year. During the next 20 years Ashel worked as a carpenter and lumber store employee. For many years he served on his local school board, on the election board, as a director in the Equity Co-op Association, with the wheat land program and in any way he could serve his fellow man. After the death of his brother, Robert, in 1929 he confined his interests to farming. After the death of his sister Cora in 1947 he and his sister Maude Ingraham lived in Beaver City, Ok.

RYBURN ROGER TIPPY Ryburn Roger Tippy, 87, of Newtown, CT, passed away May 28, 2001. A memorial Mass will be celebrated June 14 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carterville, IL. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, IL. Visitation will be June 14 at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Tippy was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Carterville, the son of Roger and Gertrude Surratt Tippy. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, and his first area of employment was with the mine offices of Peabody Coal Co. He retired from the Union Carbide Co. in 1975 after 32 years of service. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Oak Ridge (TN) Elks Lodge No. 1684, past president of the Oak Ridge Coin Club, past president of the National Scrip Collectors Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a deep interest in family history and genealogy, and in coal mining memorabilia and scrip. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Tom Tibbatts of Bethel, CT; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judy Tippy of Crossville; sister, Mildred Conolly of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Brooke Shay and Ethan Tippy, both of LaGrange, GA, Terri Tibbatts and Tom Tibbatts of Washington, CT, Luke Tippy of Crossville, Matthew Tippy of Raleigh, NC, Nathan Tippy of Nashville and Laurie Williams of Hopkinton, MA; five great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Tippy; son, Alan Roger Tippy; and brother, Earl Tippy. ELEANOR S. TIPPY Eleanor S. Tippy, 86, of Carterville, IL, passed away Nov. 25, 2000, in Herrin Hospital of Herrin, IL. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 in Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home of Carterville, with burial in Rosehill Cemetery of Marion, IL. The Rev. Dorothy Cook will officiate. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Nov. 30 in the funeral home. Mrs. Tippy was born Feb. 19, 1914, in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Lubomir Stefanoff and Gureff Slava. A 1938 graduate of Southern Illinois University, she taught school in Illinois and Tennessee for several years. For 46 years, she and her husband lived in Oak Ridge, where they raised their family. They moved to Carterville in 1990. She was active in many school activities and was a charter member of American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ryburn R. Tippy of Carterville; a daughter, Ann Tibbatts of Bethel, CT; a son, Richard Tippy of Crossville; two sisters, Mary Evans of Pacific Palisade, CA, and Ruth Heckel of Carterville; eight grandchildren, Brooke Shay and Ethan Tippy, both of LaGrange, GA, Terri Tibbatts and Thomas Tibbatts, both of Washington, CT, Luke Tippy of Crossville, Matthew Tippy of Charlotte, NC, Nathan Tippy of Nashville and Laurie Williams of Hopkinton, MA; and five great-grandchildren.
