Cleo C. Thomas, 78, of Milton died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with David Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family present from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials to Milton American Legion avenue of flags may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 23976 Amber Ave., Milton 52570.
Mr. Thomas was born April 28, 1926, near Mount Sterling, the son of Herbert and Edna Alexander Thomas. Each of his marriages to Eileen Roby, Laura Lunsford and Nancy Phillips ended in divorce. He married Maxine Osing Davidson Aug. 21, 1975, in Memphis, Mo.
He farmed in the Milton area and was employed as a heavy equipment operator by McConnell Construction Co.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dean Thomas and wife Debbie of Laurel Hill, Fla., and Steven Thomas and wife Brenda of Milton; two daughters, Nancy Jean Schweiger of Green Valley, Ariz., and Teresa Toops and husband David of Terrell, Texas; one stepdaughter, Joyce Carey and husband Leroy of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Thomas of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Edgar Franklin Sheets lived in Alexandria, Missouri and worked in a stave mill in Hamilton, Ill. He was killed in an auto accident on his way home from work on Highway 26 between Wayland and Alexandria... Another person was killed and three others hospitalized.

Des Moines Sunday Register, Oct. 11, 1959, Local Section 7-L 2 die in crash near Keokuk
KEOKUK, IA. - Two persons, one of them an Iowan, were killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision 7 miles southwest of here on Highway 26 in Clark County, Missouri.
Dead are Mrs. Conrad Seabold, 74, of Keokuk and Edgar Franklin Sheets, 48, of Alexandria, Mo.
Three others were injured, They are Wiliam J. Seabold, 42, of Houston, Tex., driver of one car and son of Mrs. Seabold; Mrs. Susan Dobbs, 76, of Keokuk, Mrs. Seabold's sister, and Roger C. Butler, 28, of Alexandria, driver of the car in which Sheets was riding.
Seabold, Mrs. Dobbs and Butler are in satisfactory condition at a hospital here.
Clark County Sheriff Charles Millikan said the collision occurred on a curve.

Edgar Franklin Sheets of Alexandria, (Mo.), passed away Saturday at 2 p.m. He was the son of the late Henry and Rosa Belle Watkins Sheets and was born October 17, 1914, near Mt. Sterling, Iowa.
He was employed at a stave mill in Hamilton,Ill.
He was married to Miss Helen Overhulser who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roselee Davis of Monmouth, Ill., and Miss Wanda Sheets at home.
The funeral was held Monday, October 12, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Richard Dillinger.
Pallbearers were Herman Shannan, Murray Mortimer, Wilber Mortimer, Delbert Arnold, Kenneth Hughes and Robert Davis.
Interment was in the Combs Cemetery at Luray
