Erlo "Pete" Peterson, age 93, who made his home for the past 6 years with his daughter, Joanne Fallon of Amherst, OH and formerly of Buckhannon, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in the Wesleyan Village Heath Care Nursing Home in Amherst, OH.
He was born April 4, 1915 in Weston, WV, a son of the late James B. and Columbia Corathers Peterson.
He is survived by his wife Lucy Osburn Peterson, whom he married on August 19, 1934 and 3 children, Joanne Fallon and husband Leo of Amherst, OH, Kae Smith and husband Jerry of Avella, Pa and Kenneth Peterson and wife Karen of Hampton, VA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and sister in law, Dorothy Peterson of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, one sister, Rita Linger and 3 brothers, Cecil, Herbert and Ancil Peterson.

Mr. Peterson retired at the age of 79 having worked at the Perce Ross Clothing Store and Straders Clothing Store in Buckhannon. He was a member of the Stone Coal United Methodist Church and served with the US Navy during WW II.

Friends will be received from 3-8 pm on Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 22, 2008 with the Rev. William C. Eskew, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Peterson Cemetery at Weston, WV.

Military services will be conducted by the VFW Post #3663, American Legion #7, and DAV #5 & #36.

ELYRIA — Lucy Jo Peterson (nee: Osburn), 93 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria.

She was born October 15, 1915 in Linn, West Virginia. Lucy was raised and lived most of her life in Weston and Buckannon, West Virginia. She had made her home in Elyria since 2003.

Lucy treasured her role as a homemaker. She was employed in housekeeping at the West Virginia Wesleyan College for twenty years. Lucy was a member of Buckannon Baptist Church in West Virginia. She was a life time member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in West Virginia.

Survivors include her son Kenneth Peterson of New Port News, Virginia; her daughters Joanne Fallon and her husband Lawrence "Leo" of South Amherst, Kae Smith of Avella, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-four years Erlo Peterson on November 18, 2008; her grandson Larry Fallon in 2004; two brothers and two sisters; and by her parents Emery P. and Emma Osburn (nee: Radcliffe).

Friends may call Friday, October 2, 2009 from 3-7 p.m. at Robert Tomblyn & Sons Funeral Chapel; Route 6, Buckannon, WV. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Peterson Cemetery, Weston, WV.

Washington "Polk" Sprouse was arrested with some other men for tarring and feathering a man who duped the community with a hard luck story, gathering goods and sympathy from the locals. Polk lived in the Freemansburg area. In the 1910 federal census for Freemans Creek District, Lewis County, West Virginia, Washington and Matilda and their five children lived on Walnut Fork Road.
