Eldon Foote (Turk) Lewis "On January 23, 2006, I finally got to return Home." I was 88. I was born on November 28, 1917, in Provo, Utah, to T.J. and Ina Foote Lewis and grew up in Pleasant View, Utah. Until I was 18 years old, I worked with my Dad on his sheep ranch, which was located up the South Fork of Provo Canyon, where the Girl's Scout Home is today. I graduated from Lincoln High School and was just finishing my first year at BYU, when Uncle Sam called. I was one of the first 7 men to be called to duty from Utah County. I was not only "Very Proud," but felt it a "Great Honor" to serve as head clerk in the Medical Corp of the U.S. Army. After nearly 5 years of service, I was honorably discharged in 1945. Not long after my return, I once again started dating a girl that I had dated prior to my induction into the Army. I married my "Dream Date," Zelma Wright, on June 27, 1947. After living in an old refurbished chicken coop in Provo for a year or so, we moved to Orem, made our home and raised our two children, Linda Lee and Bob. We have been there ever since. I started out in sales, including insurance, but it didn't take me long to realize that I wanted to be the boss, so I started my own business, "Lewis Floor Coverings." Years ago I heard that most all of the owners of the hundreds of homes and business's that I worked on, said that a true craftsman had installed their flooring. I was just doing my job. Sometime in 1982, Zelma and I went to Alaska and I installed the flooring on a project at Eielson Air Force Base. This time Bob was the boss. Unbelievable. We returned to Orem sometime in 1984. I was a member of the Windsor 7th Ward and was a home teacher for over 30 years and I rarely missed visiting my families. I was also Elders Quorum President and High Priest Group Leader. I leave behind my lifelong sweetheart, best friend and the greatest caretaker anyone could ask for, Zelma, daughter (thinks she's the boss) Linda Lee (Roger) Riley, Pittsburg, CA; son, Bob (and my Very Special Kathy) Lewis, West Jordan, UT; 7 grandchildren (Zachary is with me) 12 great-grandchildren and my little brother, Wayne (Betty) Lewis, Provo, UT. OBITUARY
The Astoria Argus, Thursday April 28, 1892
MARCUS TIPPY
Died, at his home in Astoria after a long illness, on April 23, 1892, Marcus D. Tippy, aged about twenty-seven years.
He was married a few years ago to Ida WrightLewis and of their three children, but one is now living. He was for many years a sufferer from a complicated disease of the lungs and stomach.
On the morning of the 24th short funeral exercises were held at the house by Elder Hughes, after which the remains were taken to Hickory cemetery for burial. The heroic wife bore the load of care and labor consequent to the sickness of her husband and child with the spirit of true devotion. We learn also that the child which wasalso sick died at the home of Mrs. Tippey's mother April 25, and was laid to rest beside the father.
Mrs. Tippy and relatives wish to express their sincere thanks to the kind friends and neighbors who kindly assisted them during the sickness and death of the father and child

James Allan Lewis
REIDSVILLE - James Allan Lewis, of 2115 Richardson Drive, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in Avant Nursing Home in Reidsville.
Born in Danville, Va. on January 19, 1908, he was the son of Benard Graves Lewis Sr. and Bessie Hooper Lewis.
He was educated in Danville Public Schools and attended Virginia Military Institute and Lynchburg College. He did graduate work at Columbia University in New York, N.Y. and the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina - Greensboro.
In 1934, he became principal at Sadler Elementary School in Rockingham, N.C. and later principal at Happy Home Elementary School and later principal at Wentworth Consolidated Schools. In 1945, he became superintendent of the Rockingham County School System until he retired in 1970.
For over 62 years, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church for nearly 75 years. He was a past president of Rotary International of Reidsville, N.C. and was currently on the executive board Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years, was a 30 year member of the Rockingham County Library Board and a member of the Board of Health for Rockingham County for 24 years. He was a member and past president of the Rockingham County Historical Society. He was active in the National Education Association, the North Carolina State Education Association and member and past president of the District Superintendent of the North Carolina Education Association. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow which is connected with the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include a sister, Virginia L. Farley of Danville; a brother, Bernard G. Lewis Jr. of Danville, Va.; five nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. from Mount Vernon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Patrick Womack. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home. At other times, the family will receive friends at his residence at 2115 Richardson Drive, Reidsville and at the home of Virginia Farley, 143 Clarendon Circle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Old North State Council, Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 29046, Greensboro, N.C. 27429-9046
