GORMAN -- Bobbie Joe Barnett, age 83, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Gorman.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnett was born December 17, 1920 in Comanche County to George Roscoe Sanders and Etta Adelle Hirst Sanders. She married R.A. (Arvel) Barnett on November 25, 1939 in Carbon. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include husband, R.A. (Arvel) Barnett of Gorman; son, Larry Barnett and wife Colene of Wylie; daughter, Kay Lynn Lasater and husband Emmett of Eastland; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Georgie Fae Skaggs.

Azilee I. Barnette, 99, of Laurens Memorial Home of the Aged, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Laurens County Hospital. A native of Woodruff, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Janie Wofford Barnette. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by three nieces, Esther Turner of Spartanburg, Ruth Lowe and Eula Shook, both of Cross Hill; and a nephew, Carlton L. Easler of Pacolet.

[James was giving his wife and sons a ride on the train, at meal break. He was holding Kirk in his arms, when he lost his balance and fell off of the platform on the back of the car. They fell under the wheels. His uncle Harold Pierce was operating the engine, backing up and breaking for a stop. The accident was at the Railroad yards North of the Champaign Depot.

They were indeed in Lebanon, PA. He owned a tavern, "Gentlemen's Bar", and she was a pianist and piano teacher. He served in the Navy during WWII. They had one child, Clyde M. Barr, Jr born . He and his wife, Linda L. Brandt born (daughter of William Early Brandt and Mabel E. Wunderlich), Both Clyde Jr and Linda attended Lebanon HS, and to West Chester St. Cllg. They were both teachers in the Carlisle, PA school dist (he was the band director, and she taught elementary), and now own and operate a travel company.
