<b>Carolyn K. Nelson </b> Carolyn Knight Nelson, 78, of Southern Pines, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Grady Perryman and Chaplain Carl Naylor officiating. Mrs. Nelson is a 1948 graduate of Meredith College and majored in home economics. After she graduated she was employed by Tidewater Power Company, and later at CP&L which is now Progress Energy. She served as a home demonstration representative. Her business career was shortened by her decision to be a stay-at-home mom for her two sons, Tom and Joe. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph T. Nelson; her two sons, Thomas Knight Nelson of Roy, Wash., and Joseph Benton Nelson of Concord; three grandchildren, Kathleen, Emma, and Benton; and her sister, Ione Kemp Knight. Memorials may be made to the Tom and Ione Knight Scholarship Fund at Meredith College, Raleigh, or Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 330 S. General Notes: Husband -

Newsome and his family left Stokes Co in the late 1840's and went to Gre en Co, TN and are on the 1850 Census in Green Co. He probably died in Green Co between 1860 and 1870 as he was listed in the 1860 census and not the 1870. His wife, Elizabeth, is listed in the 1870 TN Census living with her daughter, Perline in Greenville, TN. It is possible that he was a casualty of the war. His son, James, was a Union soldier and it is believed that his daughter, Perline's husband was a Confederate soldier. Newsome's other 2 sons, Anderson and Herbert (Harbard) may have served in the war but no records have been found.

H. D. Knoblock Dies Delivering Gifts To Needy (Lincoln Star Dec. 23, 1953) Harvey D. Knoblock, 59, 2950 P, a shoe salesman at Gold and Company died Tuesday evening of a heart attack while carrying church gifts to the needy. He was found at 55th and South halfway inside his car by a passing motorist. An attending physician pronounced him dead of a heart attack and Deputy Sherriff Leslie Hasson was summoned to confirm the death. Mr. Knoblock was carrying gifts from the Bryan Memorial Methodist Church to his car to be delivered to the Salvation Army and elsewhere. Mr Knoblock had lived in Lincoln the past seven years, coming here from Fairbury. He was a member of the United Brethren Church at Helvey, NE. Surviving ar his wife, Leona; daughters, Mrs. Loris Schwisow of Daykin and Mrs. L. C. Hitchcock of Lincoln; a son, Harvey of Alliance; two brothers and four sisters.
