General Notes: Husband -

George M. Barber and his family lived in Holladay, TN. in October of 1890, he took his family to Peerless, TX, in Hobkins Co. He had six living children up to that time. Having lost two in death, three other children were born to him after moving to TX.
In 1905, he moved his family to Brady, TX, McClulloch Co, for a short duration than returned to east TX and settled in Pickton. The west continued to challenge him, and he once more moved his family to CO Springs, TX, for a period of less than a year. Then he returned to Pickton where he remained until his death.

His service was principally in TN., GA., MS., and VA. He participated in the celebrated battles of Shiloh, Stone River, Perryville, sieage od Knoxville, Blain's Cross Roads and in the campain to Atlanta. He was a brave soldier, and always with his regiment. His farm consisted of 110 acres, mostly rich bottom land, with a good home, and all the evidences of thrift and industry. FRANCES C. BARGER HICKORY - Frances Crockett Barger, 101, of Asheboro, died Jan. 3, 2005, at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home. Born Feb. 21, 1903, in Linville Falls, she was a daughter of the late Thomas David Crockett and Ida Mary Brinkley Crockett. A member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Hickory, she was a lifetime member of the Ladies Missionary Society, a member of the Margaret Pauline Deaton Sunday School Class and a wonderful friend and neighbor to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thomas Barger. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Anne Barger Hill and Dr. Earlie R. Hill of Asheboro; a granddaughter, Linda Hill and her husband, Wes Wilkes, of Greensboro; a grandson, Lee Thomas and his wife, Tacey Hill, of Asheboro; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Anne Wilkes of Greensboro; and a great-grandson, Jordan Thomas Hill of Asheboro. The funeral will be conducted by Pastor Greg Williams of Bethany Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will remain at the funeral home immediately following the service. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the Barger family

Evelyn Agnes Barger 1922-2005 MILAN: Services for Evelyn Agnes Barger, 83, were conducted Friday, May 6, at 10:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Barger officiating. Interment followed in the McAuley Cemetery. Mrs. Barger died Wednesday, May 4, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was born February 27, 1922, in Carroll County, to the late Cassie and Emma Roberts McMillin. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Algie Barger, and a son, Johnny Nutt.
