Christian and Rachel were married for 55 years, 2 months and 18 days. Both are buried in the New Boston Cemetery. Rachel lived on the home farm from the time of marriage until her death. or about 65 years. Rachel's maternal grandparents, the Dennisons, were amongst the very earliest settlers in Mercer County, having settled near the mouth of Edwards Creek in 1828. They made friends with the Indians (the Sacs, the Foxes and the Musquokas). They were protected by these Indians in the uprisings of 1832 and again in 1833. The Indians stored all possible belongings of the family in the farm cabin, barred the doors, place thereon some markings know only to the Indians, while the family departed to nearby forts. Some considerable time later, when the family returned, not a single article of property had been taken.

Johann Michael Staudt arrived in America September 18, 1733, from Palatina te, Germany, on the Brigantine PA Merchant, of London. this vessel came from Rotterdam, by the way of Plymouth England, where supplies were taken on for the trip of almost three months.

A cousin Mathias Staudt and Johannes Staudt, suppolsedly a brother came with him. He was naturalized on April 10, 1761. In 1773 he became the guardian of Johannes Staudt's children.

He owned more than 180 acres near Stoudt's Ferry Bridge, on west bank of "Great Bend" in the Scherydkill River. The home passed out of family hands for the first time about 1900; was a fruit farm in 1944.

Martin Leon "Buck" Loy Sr.
BURLINGTON - Martin Leon "Buck" Loy Sr., 79, of 237 S. Gurney Street, died on Monday, August 23, 2004, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Alamance County, and the son of the late William Ervin and Bettie Ann Westmoreland Loy.
Leon was a Charter Member of Faith Bible Chapel, where he had served as both a Deacon and Trustee. He attended Elon High School and took early retirement from Western Electric in Burlington due to his health. Leon was a optimistic person giving testimony of his faith in the Lord. Even though he struggled with physical limitations he began his own wood-cutting business, providing wood for local restaurants including Hursey's Bar-B-Q. Leon was an avid sportsman including hunting, fishing and Duke basketball. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Martin Leon "Marty" Loy, Jr. and his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Loy, of Apex, N.C.; grandsons, Brandon Martin Loy and Cameron Bennett Loy; brothers, Franklin Ervin Loy, Keith Barrett Loy and William Ervin "Bill" Loy, Jr all of Burlington and Dewey Leige Loy of Paulsboro, New Jersey; sisters, Josie Myrtle Loy and Catherine Leola Loy, both of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Hough Loy; parents; brothers, John William Howard Loy, Eugene Clarence Loy, Oscar Monroe Freeman Loy and Manual Durward Loy; sisters, Ruth Beatrice Loy and Janice Madge Loy Newman.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mark Robertson, and the burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will be at the home at other times

Milling Wife Otis White was born on September 26, 1887, the son of Woodford H. and Rosanna (Cook) White. He was born in the country near Gilstrap on the main prong of the Indian Camp Creek up on the hillside where one can see the Sixes Creek flow into the main stream of the Indian Camp Creek.
Otis attended his first 6 years of school in the Warren Mill district. Later in life he would teach in the same school, now located in Gilstrap. He also attended school in Ohio County and for his further preparation the Butler County High School and Hartford College of Hartford. Leaving the latter in 1907, well prepared to take up the struggles of life, Otis began teaching in the schools of Ohio County which he did for 3 years,when he returned to Butler county to teach in the rural schools at High Grove and at Shallow Ford school near Bannock for the next 5 years. While teaching at Shallow Ford he boarded with the Monroe Cooks and taught their daughters Perlina and Myrtle.
On January 24, 1915 he married Bettie B. House. She is the daughter of Joseph Moore and Lele (Austin) House and she was born on December 14, 1892 in Butler County. Shortly after their marriage Otis bought a flour mill at Morgantown. He developed it into the leading flour mill in Butler County, with a capacity of twenty-five barrels a day, and a modern plant situated on Roberts Street. Otis owned the first truck in Butler County and used to haul flour from the mills. He is enterprising and energetic, has introduced modern methods into his work and through good management and industry has made his enterprise a well-paying proposition. His home, a comfortable modern residence was located on Tyler Street and he also owned a dwelling on Ohio Street and a farm one mile west of Morgantown.
Otis and Bettie had no children of their own, but chose two brothers from the Louisville Orphans Home to care for and love as their own. Glen Thomas and Onva became part of their family on January 24, 1921.
He received his license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky on June 27, 1927. He studied law by correspondence course and was allowed to take the bar exam. One of the last two people in the state to do this. He was still an active lawyer until hospitalized in 1976.
He served the people of Butler County as Magistrate, 1st District for 4 years, Circuit Court Clerk for 5 years, County Judge for 7 years, County Attorney for 12 years, State Senator for 4 years, State Representative for 2 years, City Attorney for 5 years. He served a total of 39 years and his policy for public service was “If he couldn't say anything good about his opponents, he would not say anything.” There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much of bad in the best of us, that it scarcely behooves any of us to speak evil of the rest of us.”
He taught school in Butler County and Ohio County and was the Editor and Publisher of the Green River Republican for 15 years, selling the paper in December 1953 to J. Guy Cook.
Judge White, as known by many, lived a very active life taking an active part in all local war activities in Butler County and helping in all drives for all purposes in addition to which he bought and contributed to the limit of his ability. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Morgantown, the Cassia Lodge No. 272, F. and A.M., Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and Morgantown Camp No. 12365, Modern Woodman of America, and Hickory Camp No. 256 W.O.W. of Baizetown, Ohio County.
One of his proudest achievements was the organization of the Butler County Diamond Club for the senior citizens. He also wrote the History of the Gasper River Baptist Association. The Association published it in 1977.
Otis died on March 29, 1976 and is buried in the Riverview Cemetery. Bettie died on August 24, 1977 and is also buried at the Riverview Cemetery. Italicized material is from Lola Cook Anderson.

"BASCOM B. WESTMORELAND, 87, of Grand Prairie died Thursday, Oct. 14, at a local hospital. Mr. Westmoreland was born in Georgia Township, Nevada County, Ark., was formerly of Houston and had lived in the Grand Prairie area since 1943. He was a carpenter.

He is survived by daughters, Faye Sivley of Grand Prairie and Effie L. James of Santa Fe (Tex.); brother, Clyde Westmoreland of Houston; sister Lena Lind of Austin; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Services were Saturday, Oct. 16, at Moore Funeral Home. Burial was at Moore Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were handled by Moore Funeral Home."

Morrison - Whiteside Co Sheriff, L. L. "Butch" Kimmel, 52, of Morrison died today in Morrison Community Hospital. Today was to be his last official day in office before retirement.
Kimmel announced last November that he would not seek reelection due to health problems. He had undergone double by - pass heart surgery seven years before, suffered a major heart attack in 1989 an upon the advice of his cardiologist to cut back stress, Kimmel re-evaluated his career.
Before being elected sheriff of Whiteside Co in 1970, Kimmel served on the Rock Falls, Police/Fire Service team and for four years as a road deputy.
As a native of Morrison, Kimmel grew up walking the halls of the Co jail when his father was sheriff and later when his mother was sworn in to take his father's place.
During Kimmel's time as sheriff, the department has gone through many changes, with the new jail facility built in 1980 the most obvious.
After retiring from the sheriff's office, Kimmel planned to undergo medical tests in Chicago before looking for a part-time job.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Morrison United Methodist Church for L.L. "Butch" Kimmel, 52, of 205 Johnson St., Morrison, who died Friday in Morrison Community Hospital.
The Rev. Dr. Lynn Longenbaugh will officiate. A 1:45 p.m. family prayer service will precede the funeral in the church chapel. Visitation will be from 2 to 5:30 and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Morrison Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, where a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service will be conducted. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Kimmel was born Aug. 19, 1938, in Clinton, to Boyd and Clara I. Tollenaar Kimmel. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1956 graduate of Morrison High School. He attended Western IL University in Maacomb, received an associate degree in law enforecement at Sauk Valley Community College in Sterling, and was a graduate of the FBI Academy at Quantico, Va.
He was employed by the Rock Falls Police/Fire Department for six years, was later employed with the Whiteside Co Sheriff's Department in charge of the Sterling office, where he served for four years. He was elected and served as sheriff of Whiteside Co from 1970 to 1990, with his term expiring at midnight Nov. 30.
He was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, Rock Falls Masonic Lodge No. 936, Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport Consistory and the Tebela Shrine Temple of Rockford. He was the founder of the Whiteside Co Sheriff's Mounted Patrol and was a past member of the Northern Illimois and IL State and National sheriffs' associations. While in office, he organized and founded the Sheriff;s Fishing Derby and the Whiteside Co youth Benefit Horse Show.
He held numerous track records while at Morrison High School and helped organize and coached the Morrison Junior Tackle Foftball program and served as a little league baseball coach in Rock Falls for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kent (Pat) Zuidema of Morrison; a son Jeff of Marengo, IL; six grandchildren; his mother of Morrison; a sister, Mrs. Leon (KAy) Vanderploeg of Morrison, CO; and a brother John Kimmel of Tell City, Ind.

The Daughter of Henry Houser II and Faithy Jones Houser. Born in York County, South Carolina. The house she was born in is located in the Kings Mountain National Military Park, York County South Carolina. Eight years after the battle of Kings Mountain her grandfather Henry Houser I bought the land where it was fought. In 1930 The Daughters Of The Revolution bought the land and gave it to the National Park Service. A government survey determined that Henry Houser House was of great historical value. The survey gives a lot of detail to the lives of her grandfather , her father and mother. She married William H Howell in about 1858. In 1883 they moved to Lake Creek, Delta County, Texas where she died in 1923
