Juanita G. Gilmore, 82 of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Sunday Morning (February 2, 2003) at Northeast Regional Medical Center to Kirksville, Missouri.
The daughter of William Marion and Grace Leona (Sebree) Toney, she was born June 11, 1920 in Greentop, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Von W. Gordon and he died serving in the Military during World War II. In 1949 she was united in marriage to Ambrose 'Bill' Gilmore and he preceded her in death in 1964.
Her parents, one brother, Marion Junior Toney, on Neice Sharon Lawrence and three brothers-in-law, Earnest Gordon, Francis Gordon, and Leo Gordon and one sister-in-law, Marie Chadwick also preceded her in death.
She is survived by on daughter, Lavona Scearce and her husband James of Kirksville, Missouri; one step-daughter, Janet Westmorland and her husband J. L. of Reeds Springs, Missouri; one grandson Christopher P. Scearce and his wife Tammy of Kirksville, Missouri; a soon to be born great grandson, four step grandchildren, Jay Westmorland, Jimmy Westmorland, Joseph Westmorland and John Westmorland and two nephews, Harold Eugene Toney of Houma, Louisiana and Robert Toney of the Quad Cities.
Juanita was raised in the Greentop area and attended the Kirksville Schools and graduated from the Kirksville High School in 1940. She worked for the Ellis Hospital and Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville until moving to the Quad Cities where she was employed at the hospital and later worked in the Sears and Roebuck Factory. After the death of her husband, she moved back to Kirksville to take care of her mother. She then worked for the Laughlin Hospital until she retired in 1982.
She enjoyed to do oil painting, drawing, cooking, gardening, and her flowers. She loved to read, especially her bible. She loved her whole family and will be greatly missed. She is with Jesus now, in a much better place.
A grave side service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday (February 5, 2003) at the La Plata Cemetery. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery, in La Plata, Missouri

PRICE GORE, 82, RETIRED FARMER, DIES SUDDENLY

Price Gore, 82, retired farmer of north of Vandalia and a lifelong resident of this area, died unexpectedly at 4:50 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hannibal. Mr. Gore was taken there by Tri-County ambulance, after becoming ill about 3 p.m. at the IGA Foodliner. He had been under treatment for a heart condition for some time, relatives said. Funeral services for Mr. Gore, who had resided at 305 South Jefferson since June, 1971, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church. Officiating at the rites was the Rev. Steve Lake of New London, minister of Union Chapel Church, with the Rev. Glen Vernon, First Christian Church minister, assisting. Burial was in Vandalia Cemetery. Casket bearers included a grandson and grandsons-in-law, Lee Gore, Paul Gore, rural route Vandalia; Richard Wasson, Center; J.R. Gore, St. Loui Francis Johnson, Louisiana, and Dale Hunt, Mexico. One of seven children of J.H. and Sarah (Sally Price) Smelser Gore, he was born in Ralls County, May 22, 1889. He was educated in the Nadine rural school. He was married to the former Lillian Waters, Feb. 15, 1912 in Mexico, a the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary about one month ago. Mr. and Mrs. Gore resided on Route 2, about 4 1/2 miles northwest of Vandalia, for 45 years, where he was engaged in farming until retiring. Mr. Gore was confirmed at Union Chapel Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jam (Bernadine) Wright, Mexico; Mrs. Gale (Uva Dell) Wasson, Route 2, and Mrs. Tommy (Maxine) Karr, Dallas, Texas. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Elsie Lackner, St. Louis, and sever other relatives. Preceding him in death were five brothers and a sister, J.H. Gore, in May, 1956, Rayburn Gore, June, 1949, Roy Gore, April, 1951, Cleveland, who died at the age of 14, and a brother and sister who died in infancy.

Cleve got tired and sat down under a tree. Price at the time was 9 years old. He got worried when Cleve would not get up so he ran to get his mother, Sarah Price Smelser Gore. When they got back to the field, Cleve was dead.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nettie E. Miller were held Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie E. Miller, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov 20, 1960, in the Reiser funeral home, Aledo, with the Rev. Kenneth Young, pastor of the Assembly of God church, officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Paullbearers were Charles and Ralph Butcher, R. C. Lewis, Perry Whitney and Everett Dahl. The organist was Mrs. Arthur Olson.
Born in Perryton, Mrs. Miller was the former Nettie Gorman and was born Dec 29, 1871 in Perryton. She was educated in rural schools
On Feb 14 1898, she was married to Otis Butcher, who died Nov 12 1904. In 1923 she was married to Thomas Miller in Aledo. He died in 1929.
She was a member of the Perryton Presbyterian Church, the Sunbonnet club and the Rebekah lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Vance and Mrs Alta Mitchell, both of Aledo; a son Vern Butcher of Tucson, Ariz; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Sharp and Mrs. William Babcock, both of Reynolds; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and two brothers.

GEORGE "SKI" GORONDENSKY
former city police sergeant

George John Gorondensky, 60, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and formerly of Lancaster, died Thursday in Casa Grande. He had been ill for one year.

Mr. Gorondensky was born June 17, 1943 in New York City and was a son of George and Mable (Black) Gorondensky. Prior to his illness, he was coordinator for the Restorative Justice Program of Pinal County Juvenile Court Services.

He spent four years in the Marine Corps serving in a communication outfit. He was a lance corporal when discharged.

In Lancaster, he was a 25-year veteran of the Lancaster City Bureau of Police, retiring in 1991 as a sergeant.

He was active in many Casa Grande programs to help to improve the lives of young people. He served on the advisory board for the Villa Oasis School for 10 years.

He was an active member of the Marine Corps League in Casa Grande and was a member of Christian Church of Casa Grande.

His greatest love in his life was family and friends. He enjoyed the shore and also played tennis.

He had lived in Casa Grande since 1992.

He first came to Lancaster when he was five-years-old as a Fresh Air child, staying with Mr. and Mrs. Amos G. Supplee, Intercourse.

He continued to come back for several years. In June 1997, he became head of the program here.

He joined the police force in August of 1966, and was promoted to sergeant in 1971. he served as a patrol sergeant and desk sergeant. He also spent two years in the bureau's warrant squad. In 1975, he graduated from the Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville, KY.
