OXFORD - Henry Marcus Lilly, age 93, a resident of 180 Pine Cone Drive, died Thursday, February 1, 2007. He was a native of Sussex County, Va., and was the son of the late Edward M. and Gertrude Grizzard Lilly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Lilly.

He was a retired Railroad Agent for Seaboard Coast Line. Mr. Lilly was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and the Will Hicks Bible Class. He graduated from Waverly High School in Waverly, Va., and attended Virginia Tech.

Mr. Lilly was a former member of the Oxford Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge #122 AF&AM and Past Master of the Seaboard Lodge #378 AF&AM in Seaboard, N.C. Mr. Lilly was a Mason for more than 50 years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Oxford United Methodist Church by the Rev. Pat Hawkins. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynda L. Winston and husband, Robert, of Raleigh, N.C., and Mary Glenn Ray and husband, David, of Naperville, Ill.; one brother, James D. Lilly of Sandston, Va.; and one granddaughter, Sarah Ashley Ray. He was preceded in death by one brother, Rodman G. Lilly.

The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home.

Mrs. Vivian Katherine Snyder Gobble, 82, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1921, in Forsyth County to Fred and Ruth Miller Snyder. Mrs. Gobble was a member of Ardmore Moravian Church. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. F.L. Gobble Jr., and two sons, Lee and Craig. Surviving are a daughter, Dianne Hinshaw and husband, Steve, of Pinehurst; two granddaughters, Sarah Hinshaw of Winston-Salem and Amy Kurzeja and husband, Paul, of Charlotte; a brother, Conard Snyder of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Annie Ruth Cox of Colfax and Clarice Waddell of Winston-Salem; as well as several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 4, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. MILTON - Elzie Sheets, 73, died at the University hospitals at Iowa City Friday following a stroke.
He was born June 30, 1881, the son of Franklin and Harriett Sheets. He was married February 4, 1902, to Daisy Godown, who survives. He was a member of the Home Prairie Methodist church and later the Milton Methodist church.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. John Oaks (Grethel) of Milton; two brothers, Charles of Keosauqua and Harlan of St. Jospeh, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Linn (Anna) of Mt. Sterling and Mrs. Wayne Myers (Edith) of Albany, Ore.; and a grandson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wellborn funeral home in Milton. The Rev. Ed Philgreen of the Cantril Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.
