She smoked a pipe, and chewed snuff, like most hillbilly women. On September 9, 1883 she married Joseph Evans. Joseph was born in Butler Co, KY on January 27, 1860. His parents were Joseph and Polly (Cotton) Evans. He died on February 6, 1897 . In about 1897 she married Jim Wilson (Willis according to Rick Flener) and they had one daughter. James was the son of Greenville Willis and Julian Phelps and was born on February 26, 1852. She then married Fidelar Flener on November 30, 1921. Leo Flener, 65, of Route 7, Shepherdsville, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a native of Butler County and a retired employee of Louisville Public Warehouse. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Teamsters Union Local 89.
Survivors: his wife, the former Delphia Woosley; two daughters, Ada Miller and Sherry Pearl, both of Shepherdsville; two sons, Danny Flener Sr. and Larry Flener, both of Shepherdsville; a brother, Letcher A. Flener; a sister, Irene Barkley of
Hartford; nine grandchildren; and a great- grandchild.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday, Maraman Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, with burial in Hebron Cemetery there. Visitation from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Note: Louisville Courier-Journal, 7 Jun 1990

Father Henry was so excited to have a daughter, he ran five miles to his sister Florence's house to tell the news.

Lois copied lyrics on paper from songs and had a notebook of them. She never wore shorts she was to modest. She had a kitten she called 'DELIGHT'. When Grammal got older in her late 60's she got a tabby cat and named it Delight also, in honor of her daughter. Pap would sniff and get all weird when Lois was brought up. Lois and her brother Cleo would play monoply alot. Grammal and Pap Flener would take care of Eddie, Sam & Freda after Lois's death, when Ralph worked for a while before he married Ethal

Steven was imprisoned for a time for the rape of his wife. He died of a brain tumor. He had been homeless for the last three years of his life, and had come home to his mother's to die. He was buried (at the state's expense) in a pauper cemetery, called a 'nigger' cemetery in the local vernacular He was also in trouble with the law in Florida, apparently, as he appears with a $100 bond due the clerk of the court in Palm Beach Co., FL. LAGRANGE -- Mary M. Flint (nee Osborne), 81, of LaGrange, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at home, following a brief illness.

She was born June 1, 1925, in Linn, W.Va., and lived most of her life in LaGrange.

Mrs. Flint enjoyed her family and helping others.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Spreng of Oberlin; sons Steve Flint of Mantua, Joseph Flint of South Amherst and John Michael Flint of Elyria; brother, Harley Osborne of Weston, W.Va.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Flint, in 2002; son, Jim Flint, in 1970; sisters Sylvia Adams and Daisey Tomey; and brothers Howard, Leo, Earl, Bob and Cecil Osborne.

Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m., at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road, Elyria, where services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Mike Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Carlisle Township.

From: Jackson Herald, Fri., 13 Feb 1942 George W. Swisher. Funeral services for George W. Swisher, prominent Ripley citizen who wou ld have celebrated his 83rd birthday anniversary on the last day of February this year, were held from the home on Monday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. John J. Loudin in charge and burial was in the Pine Hill cemetery. The Vail mortuary had charge of the funeral arrangements. Death came to the aged farmer at his home here early Saturday morning after a brief illness. He came to Ripley from Gilmer Co in 1904 and had since made his home here and operated a farm near the outskirts of Ripley until the time of his death. He was born in Berlin, Lewis Co, on February 28, 1859, a son of Peter and Margaret Hinzman Swisher. For the nearly forty years during which he was a resident of Ripley he became widely known in Jackson Co and was held in high esteem by his acquaintances and friends and was always looked upon as one of Ripley's highest type of citizens. He is survived by his widow, the former Wilma Ballentine, a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Castrup of Ripley, and one son Laco Swisher, of Charleston, and another daughter, Mrs. Flossie Wiseman, of Vadis, West Virginia. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary Allman and Miss Sadie Swisher, of Weston, and Mrs. Flora Lawson, of Lost Creek, and a brother, John A. Swisher, of Weston. Friends who were here from a distance Monday afternoon for the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Laco Swisher and children, Betty and John of Charleston; Harlan Wiseman, of Vadis; Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Morris, of Parkersburg; Mrs. C.O. Wills, of Fairmont; Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Ballentine, of Andover, Ohio; M.C. Ballentine and son Rupert, of Kingston; Mr. and Mrs. John Wiseman, of Parkersburg; Julian Wiseman, of Vadis; Mrs. Marion Ward and son James, of Weston; Mrs. Tom Mulcathy, of Weston; and Mrs. Lucy Wadkins, of Parkersburg.

Shirley Ann Flovin
Funeral for Shirley Ann Flovin, 65, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the University Drive Church of Christ with Weldon Flanagan, officiating.
She died Friday, March 24, 2006, in a local hospital.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Flovin was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Lawton to Perry Johnson Weger and Bertha S.Freeman Weger. She received her bachelor's degree from Cameron College and attended Oklahoma Christian University and the University of Oklahoma. She was employed by civil service at Fort Sill and retired after 27 years. She was employed by Furr's from 1995 until 2003. She married Edward Flovin March 7, 2000, in Lawton. She was a member of the University Drive Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Albert Perry and Monica Cowan Jackowiak, Lawton; and Allen Jerry Jackowiak, of Tuqwilla, Wash.; a sister, Betty Guynn, Tacoma, Wash.; a grandson, Jonathon Perry Jackowiak; a nephew, Allen Wesley Cooper and wife, Brenda, Port Orchard, Wash.; and a great-niece, Maddison Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
