ROBERT ELLIOTT, 83, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at 10:37 p.m. Born on Oct. 24, 1923, in St Louis, Missouri., Joseph and Virginia (Bibb) Elliott. He married Barbara Huffman on June 13, 1949, in Wells County; she survives. From 1943 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Indiana University in 1949 majoring in chemistry. He worked at W.S. Shamban Co., Fort Wayne for 10 years retiring in 1989. He also worked for Incel Co., Bluffton; W.S. Merrill, Cincinnati; Max Factor, California; and Bristol Myers, St Louis. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter and enjoyed fishing. He also raised and trained English Setters for over 20 years. Also surviving are one son, Michael (Amy Lesemann) Elliott of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Alice and Caroline Elliott. Memorial service is 7 p.m. Friday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 East State Road 124, Bluffton. Dr. Bryson E. Bell officiating. The Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel. In accordance with Mr. Elliott wishes his body will be donated to Indiana University Anatomical Donation Program. Burial in Six Mile Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the Wells County Historical Society.

Bennie L. Roberts Bennie L. Roberts, 93, of Nampa formerly of Greenleaf, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005 at a Nampa assisted living facility. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005 at the Greenleaf Friends Church. Pastor Alan Weinacht will officiate. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel Caldwell.
Bennie was born October 4, 1911 in Dixon, NE, a son of Francis L. & Eva Bales Roberts. He attended high school in Allen, NE, graduating in 1931. He and a couple friends traveled across country from Nebraska to Greenleaf, Idaho. Bennie met Ember Ellis and they were married on Dec. 23, 1935 in Greenleaf. In his younger years, he farmed and learned carpentry. He worked on construction sights around the Caldwell area before joining Imigators Lumber Company from which he retired in 1976. Bennie and Ember spent winters in Arizona before retireing in Nampa. Ember died in 2002.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Lauren and Virginia Roberts of Calwell, Leon and Naomi Roberts of Meridian and Merlin and Viola Mae Roberts of Twin Falls; a sister-in-law, Mona Jean Roberts of Norfolk, NE; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grantchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.
The family suggests memorials to the Greenleaf Friends Academy or Church.

Ember Roberts Ember LaMae Roberts, 87, of Nampa and formerly of Greenleaf, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at a Caldwell hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Greenleaf Friends Church. Pastor Steve Fine will officiate. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery under direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Mrs Roberts was born Jan. 35, 1915, at allen, Neb., a daughter of Ray and Nellie Tuning Ellis./ She moved with her family to the Greenleaf area as a young girl and attended Greenleaf Friends Academy. She received her masters degree from the College of Idaho and taught school for over 25 years in the Riverside School and later at Van Buren in Caldwell. Ember married Bennie L. Roberts on Dec. 23, 1935, in Greenleaf and after retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling and working in the MAP Program. Ember enjoyed quilting and left many items of her handiwork to her family. She was a lifetime member of the Friends Church and served as achurch organist in Greenleaf for many years. Surviving in addition to her husband, Bennie, of Nampa are three sons and daughters-in-laws, Lauren and Virginia Roberts of Caldwell, Leon and Naomi Roberts of LaGrande, Ore., and Merlin and Viola Mae Roberts of Twin Falls; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Comfort and Estolee Sharpe. The family suggests memorials to the Greenleaf Friends Church or Academy.

It is said that Enos left IA in 1869, one year before his parents, and ca me to NE, where he worked for Peter Morgan. Enos was 18 years old at the time, and Hannah only 9, and so the story goes that after working for Peter Morgan for nine years, Enos married Hannah.

1945 | ELLIS, Hannah Jane, daughter of Peter and Martha MORGAN, was born in Dakota County NE, near Jackson, on Mar 10, 1860 and passed away at her home in Allen Fri morning, April 20, 1945, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 10 days.

She grew to womanhood in the community where she was born, and at the age of 18 years was united in marriage to Enos ELLIS, who preceded her in death in 1922. To this union nine children were born, two dying in infancy and one daughter, Mabel, passing from this life in 1924.

Soon after their marriage they moved to Dixon County, living southeast of Allen on their farm for about 45 years. Here Mr Ellis died, Mrs Ellis later moving to Allen, where with her daughter, Mary, she has since resided.

She leaves behind to mourn her loss, one brother, Edwin of South Sioux City; six children, Walter H of Allen, Rev Edwin of Waterloo IA, William A of Allen, Ray of Greenleaf ID, Donald of Allen and Mary ELLIS also of Allen. Besides these she leaves 22 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Hannah Ellis was a very ernest, sincere and devoted Christian, for many years a member of Springbank Church east of Allen, serving many years as an elder, active in the interests of the church and serving her Savior as long as health permitted. Her splendid life and counsel will be greatly missed by all.

Estolee Sharpe
A memorial Service for Estolee Ellis Sharpe will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 18, at Greenleaf Friends Church, preceded by private burial at 1:30 for family.
Estolee Sharpe passed away January 12, 1996, in Newberg, Oregon.
Estolee was born in Allen, Nebraska, December 13, 1910, to Ray and Nellie Tuning Ellis. In 1926 she moved to Greenleaf, Idaho, with her parents and sisters.
In 1929 Estolee graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy, after which she attended Pacific College (now George Fox College) in Newberg, Oregon.
She worked as a waitress and manager in restaurants in Caldwell, Burley, Idaho, and other locations.
In 1940 Estolee married Milton Sharpe in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Together they lived in California, Mexico City, Washington, and retired in Newberg, Oregon. She loved music, flowers, and traveling.
Her husband, Milton Sharpe of Newberg, Oregon and her sister Ember Roberts of Nampa, Idaho, and numerous, nephews and nieces treasure memories of Estolee.
Preceding her in death is her sister, Edith Comfort of Newberg, Oregon, formerly of Greenleaf, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial gifts be designated for Greenleaf Friends Adacemy.

Nellie (Hamilton) Miller, 97, of Texhoma, died late Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Coldwater Manor in Stratford, Texas. Nellie was born Jan. 22, 1910, in Rhome, Texas, to Will and Edna (Wright) Ellis. She moved to this area from Stratford, Texas, in 1918. Nellie married Eugene Hamilton on Dec. 18, 1928, in Dumas, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1967. She married Max Miller on Jan. 1, 1973. Nellie was a homemaker, a member of the Rebecca Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Texhoma in 1928. At the centennial celebration of the First Baptist Church of Texhoma, she was honored as the person having the longest membership in the church. For many years, she was the Sunday school teacher for the 10- to 12-year-old junior boys and was an active member of the choir. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living continuous member of the First Baptist Church of Texhoma. Survivors include a son Dale Hamilton of Texhoma, Okla., three grandchildren Judy Unruh of Texhoma, Texas, Belinda Gann of Edmond, Okla., Glenn Hamilton of Texhoma, Texas; five great-grandchildren Laci Unruh Merrell of Hereford, Texas, Melissa Gann of Edmond, Okla., Tyler Gann of Tulsa, Okla., Calli Hamilton of Texhoma, Okla., Braden Hamilton of Texhoma, Okla.; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Merrell of Hereford and two whom she loved as daughter Laura Bodam Phoenix, Ariz., and Helen Ballard of Cottonwood, Ariz. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Edna Ellis, husbands Eugene Hamilton and Max Miller, twin infant brothers W.D. Ellis and Arthur Ellis, sisters Iva Lee Mulkey, Blanch Layton and Ruth Stump, daughter-in-law Florence Hamilton, grandson-in-law Gary Unruh and great-granddaughter Nikke Unruh. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15, at Texhoma First Baptist Church with Pastor David White officiating. Interment will be in the Texhoma Cemetery.
