General Notes: Wife -

Mary L. Sackville, 100, of Aledo, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at her home.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial is at Edgington Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fippinger, where memorials may be left to Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church or the donor's favorite charity. She was born April 29, 1909, in Buffalo Prairie Township, a daughter of John and Edna Mae Kadel Eckhardt. She attended the Eureka and Joy schools. On Dec. 22, 1927, she was united in marriage to Raymond W. Sackville in Rock Island. He died March 23, 1977.

They farmed in the Buffalo Prairie area before moving to Bassett, Neb., where they ranched for 25 years until his death. She moved to Aledo in 1984 and was a member of Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Verlea and Wayne Reed, Lake Montezuma, Ariz., Elaine and Don Siebke, Aledo; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patty Sackville, Aledo. A son, Rocky Sackville, preceded her in death. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Karen Sackville, Norfolk, Neb.; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 48 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, one granddaughter, three sisters and five brothers also preceded her in death.

Mr. Edwards was born in Marietta, GA on May 1, 1978 to Melvin Thomas Edwards and Jo Cooksey Edwards. He was a graduate of Gaston High School.
Surviving are his parents of Sherrills Ford, NC; two sisters, Stacie Mitchell and husband David, Fort Mill, SC and Laura Edwards, Wilmington, NC; two nephews, Evan and Cooper Mitchell and fiance, Jathina Coalson, all of Gastonia, NC.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Olivet Moravian Church Graveyard by Dr. William V. Campbell.
