Harold Dubree
Harold M. "Hal" Dubree, 83, of Bremerton died July 21, 1999, at his home of cardiopulminary disease.
He was born March 2, 1916, in Nortonville, Ky., to Ralph M. and Mayme Elizabeth (Hunnicutt) Dubree. He grew up in Herrin, Ill., graduating from Herrin High School in 1934.
He married Ella Margret "Peg" Kline on Aug. 31, 1940, in San Diego. She preceded him in death in May 1994.
Mr. Dubree served in the Navy from July 1934 to 1958, retiring as a full commander. His military honors during World War II include the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, a Presidential Citation and a Bronze Star.
Following his naval career, he was sales manager and vice president for Brinkerhoff Appliances in Bremerton for many years. He also worked for several years with Larkin Realty (Century 21) in Bremerton in the early '70s.
Mr. Dubree was a member of the Mustang Club of Kitsap County, the Retired Officers Association (life member) and the Elks (30-year member). He also was active in various community service organizations.
Survivors include one daughter, Michaele Freund of Shelton; one brother, Hershall of Littleton, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Kristen-Marie Freund of Seattle. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Ruwe.
A private inurnment will take place at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor. Cremation was under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Hal D's life hosted by District 10 will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Port Orchard Activity Building. For information, call (360) 692-5978.

Janis D. McCarley WILMINGTON ? Janis Duckworth McCarley of Wilmington, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at her home. She was born on Dec. 19, 1943, in Canton, the daughter of the late James T. and Hazel S. Duckworth. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and plants for her yard, and also raising and releasing Monarch butterflies in the fall of the year. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Alexander Oldham McCarley; three sons, Alexander Oldham McCarley Jr. of New Bern, James Duckworth McCarley and his wife, Rachel, and Daniel McEachern McCarley, all of Wilmington; a sister, Nancy Lee Tilley and her husband, Donald; and a niece, Donna Hales, all of Durham. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel with the Rev. John C. Drewry officiating.
