Mr. Dryden was born Nov. 30, 1873 in Copenhagen, NY, the son of John D. and Kate Bacon Dryden. He was educated in Copenhagen, and attended Clinton Liberal Institute at Ft. Plain, NY He married in January of 1912 to Mary Louise Clark who died in 1915. On Aug. 5, 1916, he was married to Nora Dell Marr. She died March 30, 1953. As a young man, Mr. Dryden was associated with Buttrick Publishing Co, in New York. Later he headed the western branch of that firm. He also served for a time with Simplicity Patterns and in the advertising field. Survivors include his daughter Mrs. Jessie Wood of Ainsworth; one son, John B. Jessie Dryden Wood, 42, was found dead at her home on the west edge of Ainsworth Sunday morning. According to reports from the sheriff's office here this morning. Mrs. Wood's body was first discovered by her 14 year old son, Steven, at 9:15 A.M. Due apparently to irregularities surrounding the death Co Medical Examiner Dr. G. E. Montgomery has called for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Dr. Montgomery stated this morning that the autopsy is being performed at the laboratories in Ames. He further commented it is hoped that within the next 48 to 72 hours there will be an official report as to the cause of death. Grave side services for the Ainsworth woman have been set for Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Jessie Dryden was born April 3, 1919, in Chicago, Cook Co, IL, a daughter of Charles B. and Nora Marr Dryden. She had attended the Francis W. Parker School and Long Beach Junior College. The death of Mrs. Jessie Wood of Ainsworth last Sunday was officially termed as suicide by Co Medical Examiner Dr. G. E. Montgomery, it was learned this morning. Dr. Montgomery made the announcement this morning after receiving the results of a toxicology examination reports from a state laboratory earlier today. After the death of the 42 year old Ainsworth woman last Sunday morning contents of her stomach and blood were sent to the state laboratory for examination to determine the exact cause of death. The reports showed death was caused by an overdose of sleeping medicine. With the final report on the examination, combined with investigation on the part of the medical examiner and local sheriff's officials, Dr. Montgomery stated that the overdose was "...without a doubt" suicide. He also stated that a suicide note had been found near the body Sunday morning, a fact which had not been brought to light before this time. Mrs. Wood took the overdose of medicine during the night and her body was discovered by her son, 14 year old Steven, when he got up Sunday morning, the report stated.
