Joe Daniel was born in Red River Co, TX in 1865. He married in Wapanuck, Indian Territory, OK about 1892. His first four children were born in Wapanucka. Joe and his family moved to near the Roff, Pontotoc Co, OK area about 1902. He was living in Ninnekah, Grady Co, OK at the time of his death in 1936. Grandpa Daniel was a small man, measuring only about 5-3 but according to many relatives had a giant sized heart. From Feb. 22, 1996 Van Buren County Register Marion Edward Roby Marion Edward Roby, 68, 2103 Avenue D, Fort Madison, Iowa, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996 at Fort Madison Community Hospital after having been in failing health the past 2 1/2 years.
He was born Oct. 17, 1927 at Troy, Iowa, the son of William Carl Roby and Wilma Jean Vanderlinden of Keosauqua.
He married Virginia Daniels Roby on Oct. 29, 1952 at the Sante Fe Methodist Church. He was a retired tool and die maker for Gleason Corporation with 40 years and one day service, retiring in May 1995. He was a resident of Fort Madison for over 40 years; was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Lifetime member of the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, one son, Stanley W. Roby of St. Helens, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Marilyn) Hanson of West Des Moines, Iowa and Jane Roby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Eileen Boyd of Des Moines, Iowa and Bonnie Alexander of Indianola, Iowa, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

CUMMING: Elisabeth Darlow, 90, pioneering physician By DERRICK HENRY Elisabeth Martin Darlow wanted to be a doctor at a time when there weren't many female physicians. She succeeded.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in zoology in 1936, the Atlanta native entered the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She was one of only eight women enrolled, said her stepdaughter, Deborah Liles of Cumming.
Dr. Darlow graduated in 1941. She began a two-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta in 1942, and in 1944 she set up a private practice, specializing in ob-gyn.
"Elisabeth emphasized quality over quantity in her practice," said Mrs. Liles, who occasionally worked in Dr. Darlow's office. "She sat with the expectant mothers at their bedside. And she told us she spent as much time with the expectant fathers as the mothers. She even had a fainting couch for the men."
When necessary, she made house calls. According to the Piedmont Hospital Archive, in 1946 she charged $4 for a house call in the city, $6 to drive to College Park and $10 to go to Marietta or Jonesboro.
"She was the kind of doctor who had an innate sense about her patients," said Dr. James Kilgore of Waleska, a marriage therapist who had an Atlanta office across the hall from hers. "She was gracious and caring in a motherly way. My wife and daughter were patients and told me she was the best."
Dr. Darlow, 90, died Wednesday of congestive heart failure at her Cumming residence. The funeral is at 11 a.m. today at Cumming First Baptist Church. Ingram Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Darlow was a medical examiner for the Atlanta YWCA and served on the staffs of Piedmont, Crawford Long and Grady hospitals and the Emory University Medical School. In 1946, she received a Woman of the Year award for her volunteer work as attending physician for the Florence Crittenton Home for unwed mothers and their babies.
In 1972, when she was 58, Dr. Darlow took her boat in for repair at Near Lake Marine in Cumming. She fell in love with the owner, Warren G. Darlow Sr., a widower, and they married that same year. She had never been married before.
"Elisabeth knew what she wanted," Mrs. Liles said. "She wanted an instant family."
With Mr. Darlow, she got it. He had four children, ranging in age from 11 to 21.
"Elisabeth didn't want to take our mother's place," Mrs. Liles said. "Instead, she became a friend and a nurturer. She stepped in, swept floors, did what parents do. And being a grandparent suited her up one side and down another."
After she married, Dr. Darlow stopped delivering babies, relocated her practice to Cumming and concentrated on office consultations. She retired in 1980, and her husband died in 1997.
In her youth, Dr. Darlow excelled in sports, including swimming, volleyball, baseball, basketball, shooting and especially tennis. She was a gifted enough violinist to once consider a musical career, and she also played the mandolin and saxophone.
In retirement, she enjoyed yard work, woodworking, repairing clocks and hanging out with her dogs.
"Elisabeth always had dogs --- a dog in the car, a dog in the house and a dog outside," Mrs. Liles said. "She used to tell her vet that if she had another life, she would be a vet."
Survivors include two other stepdaughters, Wendy W. Darlow of Duluth and Laurie L. Darlow of Fairfax, Va.; a stepson, Warren G. Darlow Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Evelyn Schafer of Knoxville; six grandchildren and a great-grandson

Mrs. Elisabeth Martin Darlow, age 90, of Cumming, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at her home following a brief illness. Mrs. Darlow was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Warren G. Darlow, Sr. She was born in Atlanta and grew up in Florence, Alabama. She attended Florence State Teachers College and The University of Tennessee, where she graduated in 1936. She attended the Medical School of Virginia as one of eight females and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 1941. She did her residency from 1951-1953 at Gallinger Municipal Hospital of the George Washington University in Washington, DC. After interning at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Dr. Martin entered private practice and became Atlanta's first female OB/GYN. She was the recipient of Atlanta's prestigious Woman Of The Year Award in 1946 for her volunteer work as the Medical Director of The Florence Crittenton Home for unwed mothers in Atlanta. She became the medical doctor for The Atlanta YMCA in 1942, served on the Medical Staff at Piedmont, Crawford Long and Grady and was also on the teaching staff at Emory Medical School. At the University of Tennessee she was a member of Chi-Omega. She was also a member of The Medical Women's Club of Atlanta and The Atlanta Business Women's Federation. In 1972, she married Warren G. Darlow, Sr., of Cumming and bcame instant mother of four children, ranging in age from eleven to twenty one years old. She moved her home and practice to Cumming at that time. She retired from her medical practice in the early eighties. Elisabeth was an accomplished tennis player and violinist. She was interested in everyone and loved to learn what they were doing. Survivors include sister, Evelyn Schafer, Knoxville, TN; children, Deborah and James Liles, Cumming; Wendy W. Darlow, Duluth; Warren G. Darlow, Jr. Ft. Lauderdale; Laurie L. Darlow, Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Jonathan Liles, Marietta; Jason and Joseph Liles, both of Cumming; Diana, Amber, and Daniel Darlow, all of Coral Springs, FL; great-grandson, Justin Liles, Cumming; many beloved nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren.
