(continued) My grandfather, Ephraim Gilmore was the only son of eight or nine older sisters. He married Arabelle Curry who was of a prominent family in Chester Co. He went into the Revolutionary War when he was about thirty-five years old. He was a Captain in George Washington's Company. He was in four big battles on the Brandywine River in PA. When I (Thomas Gilmore) was a kid with my brothers, Ephraim and Warren, we used to dress up in grandfather's Captain's suit and put on his beautiful silver handled sword, that were kept upstairs in a chest, and strut about as if we were officers.

Ida C. Roby Ida Chloe Roby, 96, of 4 Cleveland Ave., Buckhannon, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. Mrs. Roby was born March 27, 1906, in Vandalia, a daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Lenora Lamb Curtis. She married Eugene T. Roby, who preceded her in death on July 2, 1993. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John Curtis, Roy Curtis, William Curtis and Burl Curtis; and one sister, Ouita Curtis Dobbins. Mrs. Roby was a cook for Arlington School. She attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Arlington. Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Tenney officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Arlington. From 27 June 2002
