Mary Swetnam
Mary Ann (Cockriel) Swetnam died Friday, April 18, 2008, in South Sioux City, Neb. Mrs. Swetnam was born in Smithville, Mo., and was employed as an executive secretary at Lynn Insurance Company in Kansas City when she met her husband of 41 years, Nathan Dean Swetnam. In addition to her parents, Tom and Helen Cockriel, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Dean Swetnam. Survivors include two sons, Richard Dean Swetnam, Waterbury, Neb., and John Lawrence Swetnam, Kansas City, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled for the hour before the services.

DEATHDATE: his widow applied for a Widow's pension on 19 August 1904 and stated his deathdate as 23 July 1904 and it occurred in TX Co, Missouri
BURIAL:buried in New Hope Cemetery, Cass Township, TX Co, Missouri as per source #3 in email received in June 1998. His tombstone reads "Old Soldier". Located 3.5 miles east of US 63 on MO Co road UU, behind a rural Baptist Church.

Shirley Ann Cocks - Oct. 17, 1925 - Sept. 18, 2004 LARGO, Fla. - Shirley Ann Cocks, 78, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, at Shore Acres Nursing Home in St. Petersburg, Fla. Born October 17, 1925, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ellis and Verna (Green) White. She was a 1944 graduate of Mitchell High School, a registered nurse, and was employed for many years in Mitchell for Dr. James T. Oswalt, prior to moving to Florida in 1957. She worked 30 years at Morton Plant Hospital and area nursing homes in Largo, Fla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Largo, Fla. Survivors include two sons, Richard M. Cocks of Trophy Club, Texas, and Vincent D. Cocks of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Rowena Brooks of Mitchell; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Casey James Cocks; one brother, John Paul White; and four sisters, Ellen Cara, Goldie McClintic, Geneva Mann and Priscilla Mann. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, at the First Baptist Church in Mitchell with the Rev. Mark Pittman officiating.
