The Gay Family

 

My Gay family come from the Spitalfields and Stepney areas of East London (Middlesex).  The occupations of this family seem to be in the building trade as John b1809  was a plumber and his son George Aaron b1841 was a painter.  Was this a family business?  They married into the Pitt Family.

3.  Henry GAY, b. 1800, Spitalfields Middlesex, baptized 4 May 1800, Spitalfields Christchurch, Spitalfields, occupation Messenger.  He married Sarah EMMETT, 8 Dec 1821, in St Brides, Fleet Street, London, b. 1801, Peckham/Poplar, occupation Dressmaker.  Henry died bef 1881.
