Below is a little information on my puzzle pieces of family research. Again, I have little family assistance, so I have to figure this all out without the aid of elders in the family.  If any of the surnames below match in your research, please contact me!  I’d love to compare notes!  Of course, I am willing to share any information I have… most of my research is currently in Elgin and Simcoe Counties.

I am currently seeking information on Emmeline Maria CLARK’s birth (Michigan) & death dates, information on Cornelia Shaw's family; and John Martin PETTIT & Eliza WELKINS dates & ancestors  -- Elgin County; Sparta, ON >>I am told that our PETTIT line came out of Pennsylvania, though I can't prove this as of yet.

Looking to obtain a copy of the following books:
"Come In and Have a Chair - The Story of Martin Pettit and Margaret Frances Hutcheson" by STOTT (ISBN - 0-9684071-1-0)  I am linked to the families in this book!!!
"Tweedsmuir History of Union and Area - South Yarmouth Womens Institute - Published by Jean I. Griffin" - I have family in this book!!!

>>According to "Come in and Have a Chair", Martin's siblings were Jonathan, Henry, and Jane who were all in Canada and their parents were from Pennsylvania.
According to a census I looked at (possibly 1881)  my Pettits were of German descent
>>One child would be Jesse Martin Pettit.  Jesse Martin Pettit's obit lists the following as siblings: Mrs. Gibbo in Ohio; Bertan in Ohio; Cyrus in Dundee; John in Northern Michigan; Thomas in Grand Ledge, Michigan

According to Jesse's obit dated 1911 their children: Charles, Sparta; Mrs. A. Axford, South Yarmouth; Mrs. A. N. Brown of Scott, Saskatchewan; Mrs. R. Fortner, St. Thomas; Wesley of Seattle; Erna, Scott, Sask; Myrtle and Harold at home (Charles' obit lists Harvey as a brother... might there have been a typo and Harold should have been Harvey in JM Pettit's obit; other siblings listed in Charles' obit: Harriet Axford; Louise Brown; Mrs. Irma Thompson; Myrtle Mellor Margaret Fortner).

Emmeline (CLARK) PETTIT - Film # 186197 certificate 11760/14 PETTIT, Emeline - Female American, 60 years died January 19, 1914, at 9 Balaclava St., St. Thomas, ON Born at Long Point, Mich. Occupation: lady widow Father: Charles CLARK Mother: Elizabeth MARR (I think this is the surname) Cause of death: pneumonia x 5 days; contributing factor heart trouble x years Informant: Dr. C. J. Lowen (he seems to have signed all the deaths that day) Registered Jan. 21, 1914 Physician: Dr. Jackson

I am currently seeking information on Viola BLAIR and her parents/siblings.  Also seeking information on John FUNSTON (b. about 1869) and his parents - Simcoe County - Stayner, ON?  (Viola was adopted; born 06-Aug-1905 to ASHTON family; adopted into BLAIR family - father's name Peter BLAIR -  Viola's birth parents were Richard ASHTON & Mary "Ethel" PROBEN/PROBYN and was the daughter of Mrs. Snowden; and sister of Walter PROBYN of Toronto.  Mary "Ethel" died in May 1906 and Richard married Gertie NELSON in 1907.  Any information on any of these relations, is greatly appreciated. - please see family research page for more & new information)

Ethel Mary PROBYN ASHTON is buried in Greenwood Cemetery with her infant son.  Her daughter, Viola, is my great-grandmother, which is the cause for deep research as she was adopted into the BLAIR family of Alton.  Viola was baptized Ruth Viola Lee ASHTON on 06-Aug-1905.  Looking for family information on her father, Richard ASHTON (1882-1959), his second wife, Gertie NELSON (1880-1944) and his third wife Emma BULL.  Also seeking information on Walter PROBYN and his wife, Mary M. (maiden name unknown) and their children - I know of one son, Walter, born about April 16, 1908

**Currently looking for information on relations of Roderick, Geraldine & Norene - Roderick was married to Eva and Eva passed away in 1985; Roderick passed in 1962 - leaving two adult daughters.  Norene appears to have been married to a DALY and then married to William HANSON and moving to Alberta by 1962.  Geraldine appears to have been married to a GOODWIN.

Sarah Helen MOORE (1906-1989) married Jesse Gilbert PETTIT (1902-1982)

(Elizabeth Jane ARMSTRONG was the daughter of Thomas & Mary BROWN, born in Fermanagh, Ireland about 1870.  She was the sister of  Mrs. McBride in Belfast, Ireland; Mrs. Jarvis in California; Arthur, Guy & James in Ireland & Robert Armstrong in London, England.)
