Edwin Jones

The surname Jones has been understandably difficult to
research. The earliest known Jones I have been able to locate is Edwin
Jones the gg grandfather of my husband. His marriage is recorded to
Margaret Elizabeth Tracey on 1 September 1851 at St Peter's Church,
Melbourne in the county of Bourke, Australia. Witnesses to the marriage were
Robert Walker and Sarah Clapham, both of Melbourne. Edwin's occupation was
recorded as a sawyer.
Edwin and
Margaret came to New Zealand between 1856 and December 1857 when their third son
Edwin was born in New Plymouth. Known children of Edwin and Margaret were:

The Lord Restoreth me and
I shall want nothing.
He hath set me in a place of pasture.
He hath bought me on the water of refreshment
He hath comforted my soul.
He hath led me on the path of justice for his own names sake.
