Mr Brooshooft's connection with Sheffield was by his marriage with a daughter of the late Mr Jonathan Marshall, steel manufacturer, whose works were in Millsands, and who resided at Pyebank. Mr Marshall amassed a large fortune; for at that time, he, Mr Huntsman, and the Messrs Walker of Masbro', were the only people in the steel trade, and had the profits to themselves. Much of this wealth Mr Brooshooft received through his marriage with Mr Marshall's daughter, and to perpetuate his memory he has left a legacy of 3000pds to the National Lifeboat Institution, to found three lifeboats, one of which is to be called "The Jonathan Marshall, Sheffield."
