ACCIDENTAL DROWNING. An inquest was held this morning by the City Coroner (Mr. T. Gresham) on the body of Henry Edward Jones, at the residence of bis parents, 18, Oliphant street, Ponsonby. The age of the deceased, a schoolboy, was eight. He had been, on the 11th inst. with some of his companions to a pond, situated in a vacant allotment off Tutanekai-road, Richmond, after afternoon school, for tadpoles. The unfortunate boy had slipped down, the bank and so into the water. He was seen in the water by Mrs. Kule, who gave the alarm, and the boy. was got out by Mr. Boswell, a school teacher. Artificial respiration was tried but without success. A verdict of accidental drowning was eventually returned. Auckland Star 12 February 1909

Marriage*17 August 1906Robert Christopher Jones married Ann Rangikatiria (Annie) Asher on 17 August 1906; The marriage of Miss Annie Asherr, third daughter of Mr David Asher, of Tauranga, and Mr Robert Jones, of Tokaanu, was quietly solemnized on Friday morning, August 17th. The ceremony took place at the residence of the bride's parents, the Rev. W. Gillies officiating. The bride was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr F. Lees, and wore a smart light green bolero costume trimmed with green and white silk, blouse of white brocaded silk trimmed with lace, and hat to correspond. Miss C. Asher acted as bridesmaid, and Mr E. Asher Officiated as best man. The guests, who were confined to the immediate friends, were entertained at the wedding breakfast, and later Mr and Mrs Jones departed, driving for Rotorua, en route for their future home at Tokaanu.

Death*31 May 1924Robert Christopher Jones died on 31 May 1924 at Tokaanu, Waikato, New Zealand, at age 64; MR. R. JONES. A well-known resident of Taupo, Mr. Robert Jones, died suddenly on Saturday, aged 68 years. Deceased was born At Wanganui, and for some time farmed at Taihape. He was a fine horseman, and keenly interested in athletic sports. He was for the past 20 years host of Tokaanu Hotel. Deceased also kept a store, and was much trusted by the Maoris. Criminal11*12 August 1908He was Dr. McArthur, S.M., had before him for decision yesterday afternoon a claim by a wife against her husband for the possession of a sewing machine. The plaintiff, Janet Jones, according to the evidence, was living apart from her husband, Walter James Jones, a driver. She claimed to be absolute owner of the machine and fittings, which, it was alleged, were being unlawfully detained by him in spite of demands for delivery. She had paid for the machine by instalments with money she had earned herself. The defendant contended that he had supplied the nioney for the machine. The agreement for the purchase was drawn up in the name of the plaintiff, but the machine was insured in the name of the defendant. His Worship reserved decision. Evening Post, 12 August 1908 on 12 August 1908.
