As of 1878, William John Tracey lived at Block 513, Plymouth & Harrison Street, Wanganui.¹ As of 1882, William John Tracey lived at Harrison Street, Wanganui.² He died on 27 August 1895 at Wanganui.

An inquest was opened on Tuesday evening at Bere Ferrers, near Plymouth, on the bodies of10 New Zealand soldiers whowere killed on Monday afternoon by a South-Western express from London.
The coroner said that a train was standing in Bere Ferrers station, and that some New Zealand soldiers got on the permanent way, not knowing that the express train was due to pass through. The express dashed into them, killing nine and injuring three, and one of the injured men had since died. He proposed to take only evidence of identification, and expressed deep sympathy with the relatives of the men killed.
Captain Herbert Stanley Hewlett, of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, identified the bodies as those of Privates J S Jackson, C J Kirton, B A W McBryde, R B McKenna, W S Gillanders, J F Warden, W F Graves, Joseph Judge and W J Trussell. One body is still not identified. Trussell was one of the three injured men removed to the Tavistock Hospital, where he died. The two other injured men at Tavistock are Nathaniel Johnson Gatley and Robert James Barnes, both with arms broken.
The inquest was adjourned until Monday afternoon.

     Charles Edwin Corkran was born on 12 November 1878. He was the son of Jane Elizabeth Jones. As of 1889, Charles Edwin Corkran was also known as Edwin Charles Messiter Name as recorded in School Records and also on his marriage in 1901. He was educated on 24 April 1889 at Wanganui; Charles Corkran was admitted to Mars Hill School under the name Edwin Charles Messiter on24 April 1889. His last school was listed as the Catholic School, Wanganui. He left Mars Hill on 19 December 1890 to attend the Town School. His guardian/parent is recorded as Mr T Messiter.      Lawrence Albert Stubbs was born on 8 February 1885 at Wanganui.¹ He was the son of Albert Stubbs and Emma Ann Simpson. Lawrence Albert Stubbs married Jessie Anne Earles on 18 August 1908 at Wanganui.¹ Lawrence Albert Stubbs died on 6 November 1937 at Whenuapai at age 52.
